NFCU question about timing of 2nd card app

Hi all,

just got into NFCU on Monday the 8th, app'd for GoRewards and got $5500 on WEds. Got $15K CLOC today (Friday).

It seems that each process approval is independent of the others.

If that is the case what does anyone think my odds of getting a Platinum right now would be before the others hit my reports?

I know they use an internal scoring method but they also pull TU for credit apps so If i move quicky my TU won't have dropped because of the 2 pulls they have made.

any suggestions?

Starting Score: EQ 628 | TU 643 | EXP 618
Fico 8 12/22/16: EQ 658 | TU 682 | EXP 721
Next Goal:        700's across the board
Credit Karma:   EQ 554 | TU 551
CK 12/22/2016: EQ 637 | TU 637

Re: NFCU question about timing of 2nd card app

It's better to wait the 90 days and 3 statements for the second card. Most hit the CLI button on current card and then app for second and have great results. Most who app for second card as soon as approved for first typically get the show us some history first response. I suggest waiting and showing NFCU some history.

And they sometimes pull EQ also for the cards. Just to give you a heads up.

Re: NFCU question about timing of 2nd card app

Most people wait the 90 days and getting a CLI on card number one first. Not enough data to find out what happens if you app for the 2nd card right away. Based on your SL of $5500 my gut tells me a second card wouldn't be approved at this point. However, if you're willing to take another HP to find out. it would help others that might be wondering it.

Re: NFCU question about timing of 2nd card app

Although I have seen older post of people getting two CC from Navy close together, it's much more common to see denials until the first is at least 90 days old AND has had 3 statements. Even better success may come after 6 months of history with them.
If you get an automatic CLI on the first card after 90 days, I think you'd have a decent shot. If it goes pending, might have better odds after 6 months

Re: NFCU question about timing of 2nd card app

I made the mistake of doing all three. That's ok. Live and learn. Was approved for 2 but denied signature.
