So ive had a capital one mastercard since I turned 19, and its always had a 1,500 dollar limit. My credit has always been something i'd steer clear of in conversations. Until this past year when I made it a point to right the ship, in order to secure a mortgage. Well 12 months of work paid off, I had my scores into the 700's with only one real account showing which was my capital one card. Applied, and approved for our dream home, I am now looking past to earn some credit. I applied this morning for a Chase freedom card, instant approval! Called and asked what my balance was... $500 . Instantly sent a secure message on chase's website requesting a CLI to 2,500... APPROVED. I should of asked for more . Anyways what other cards do you guys recommend me apping for to start out?
I would say discover it you should be good for....
I actually apped for that one today as well, and got the 5-7 buisness day message. Does this mean an automatic denial? My biggest issue is lack of accounts, and lack of credit on the accounts I believe. I have 1 card reporting, and that is the extent of my credit history. Should I be proactive about the Discover card and call them? What should I say if I call?
Oh and the one card is currently reporting with 35% uti.
yes, call and see where you are in the process good luck and let us know
Utilization a little high but call and see what info they need and take it from there
unfortunatly thats not hard to do when you have a 1,500 dollar limit

True and speaking with a live person might influence an approval if explained either way don't waste that HP w/o a call

It's nice to be able to apply for something and actually get it without a cosigner. No doubt.
