Hi everyone!
I am newer to the forum so please let me know if I should have posted this in a different area. I have a questions to you all about pre-qualify letters. My question is, after you are rejected for a credit card or store card, could they send you pre qualification letters in the mail once you finally meet there criteria? I am in the rebuilding process for my credit and I am trying to minimize rejection as much as possible. I applied for Amazon and Walmart. Amazon straight up denied me for their store card( not Visa through Chase) and Walmart gave me the reviewing account will notify within 7-10 Days. Do you know if these companies send out pre-qualify letters after rejections? Also has anyone had any experience with companies that have? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
Thank you! I was aware of all of those pre qualify sites and I also know about the SCT with Comenity.I am just curious about other store cards that are visa/mastercard and if they ever do SP to prequalify someone who has applied but was denied. Thank you for your response!
Awesome. I wasn't aware of either of those. What exactly is NFCU? I see that all the time on here. I googled it and it looks like it is a credit Union. I am assuming it's a popular one to apply for credit with since its on here all the time. Thank you for the info!
I see. Thanks for the info. I have been googling rebuilder cards. I have the Capital One Secured that I opened last August. It has helped bump my score up about 40 points. I got a few more store cards threw Comenity so I will probably just sit on those for awhile before I try and apply for any more cards. I only have 3 inquaries and I want to keep that low.
Early last year Discover and Amex sent me fancy preapproval mailers. At the time I was an AU on my dad’s Cap1 and I had a BoA card of my own. Discover rejected me for my limited file but not two months later they sent me one of their snazzy oversized plum envelopes where they treated me like a long lost brother. When I responded to that offer they gave me a number to call, I spoke to a CSR to verify income and housing payment info, and I was immediately approved for 5k. I received a 1k increase after three months and I’ve been getting $500 increases every 90 days ever since.
With Amex they sent me two glossy mailers last summer for their green and gold charge cards that had me convinced they wanted me and both times they rejected me. Still had a relatively thin file but my Ficos were all north of 740. About three months later I cold apped for the BCE and was approved for 2k. 57 days later I received the 3X increase to 6k. Now whenever I go on the Amex site I’m preapproved for every card they offer, including the charge cards up to and including the Platinum.
So I guess the moral is the mantra that’s constantly reinforced on these boards: it’s a marathon not a race and slow and steady gets the job done. Do your due diligence and eventually the lenders will want you.
I agree. I need to just sit on what I have and pay of my debt in collections. Thank you for your response!
