QS WEMC Application

Before I start. Non Cap1 lovers please chill a moment. I applied last night and got a message. "We know it usually takes 60 seconds ot less",ect. 5 mins later I got a verification call. Answered all the questions. You dont have to tell is anymore. All is good. Then here came the HP alerts on MyFICO and CK. The app specialist said you'll probably be getting your card in a week. Oh I'm approved? She didnt say yes or no.

So as I have read on here. If it's a HP its usually approved. SP's not approved. So my plan. At my age 60+ and just over a year from FD retirement. Just like a person who graduates from secured to unsecured. I wanted to rid myself of the starter cards that say QS. Really. They are Platniums covered in the QS labels. QS1 text alerts say Platnium. Once (if) I recieve the card. I'll combine my existing cards once they hit 1 yr old. Then I'll have a Siggy and a WEMC, and my newest Discover. I will be traveling quite a bit.  I'll never see a Chase, BOA, Citi, and all those others that deny BK'ers for years after DC.

Heck. I'll be almost 70 when the BK falls off. As you can see in my siggy. I guess it will be a go for approval? Well thats the plan. Again. Thanks to all who taught me much on here for where I'm at now.

Re: QS WEMC Application

As far as HP's meaning approval, I don't believe that means anything. Cap One HP's new applications regardless of approval or denial and denial can absolutely result in a HP, so I wouldn't read too much into that. Nevertheless best of luck on your app, hope you get it and your plan works out.

Congrats on your rebuilding success!

I'm actually quite fond of Capital One... I have a couple of Quicksilvers myself.  With Amex if you have an existing account and apply for a new one, there's usually no HP, but I've never heard anybody say that about Capital One - you really should expect a HP on all three credit bureaus regardless of the outcome.

Also, don't be fooled by the 'Platinum' tag... there are actually two different things called 'Platinum' with Capital One.  Their basic no-frills (usually high APR) card is referred to as their 'Platinum' card.  Then there's the 'Platinum' benefit level, which is what all of their cards are at if they aren't 'Signature' or 'World' (or 'World Elite').  Any Quicksilver that's not a Signature or World/World Elite is at the 'Platinum' benefit level, but it's not equivalent to the Capital One 'Platinum'... that's different.  I know it's confusing... whoever decided to call their basic card 'Platinum' in their marketing should be flogged.  whip.gif

In my case, my old QS MasterCard has an interest rate of 15.15%, which isn't too bad for a Capital One card... and it's my oldest bank card as well, so I keep it around.  I'm only sharing this so you won't close anything in 'haste' due to the label... instead, close the cards that are truly the least valuable, regardless of what it's called.

(If you haven't already, you might consider seeing about having your QS1 upgraded to a QS... that's what I did.  It's the same card without the AF).

Of course if your new cards have better rates/terms, I would close/combine the old ones as well.  In any case, I hope you get good news on your application soon! Smiley Happy

Thank you for the responce and wisdom. I follow you and a few others who got this game down pat. As I got each Cap card. The interest went down on each one as the score went up. It wasnt an instant approval like I said, But the phone call lesss than 5 mins after applying and answering all the questions leaves me to wonder am I or am I not approved. Why call and ask for all that for a denial. Oh well. We'll see what happens. Thanks again Unc!

Re: QS WEMC Application

Well I called and asked what's up with the app. Very very nice lady explained that it wasn't denied. She looked into it more and found that Cap1 is preparing the rate and other mumbo jumbo to be sent out. So it looks like all will be well. It will be nice to have a Siggy and a WEMC. If it wasnt for Cap1 going back to 2013 with crap credit and giving me a truck loan with no lates. And soon to be 4 cards 14 months out of BK. Gotta stay loyal and cant wait to see that shiney new card. Add my newest Discover. Combine the rebuilder card. Lotta work and playing the FICO game. Its all spelled out below. Thanks Ya'll for all the great advise over the past year. Wish I could buy you guys a beer and have a few shots! Smiley Very Happy

Re: QS WEMC Application

Just got the letter after 6 business days. I have been approved for 10k @ 13.24%. Card is on it's way! Yeah triple pull. They only listed TU FICO 4 version on the papers. So that QS1 below will be combined right before the AF. Then the original Platinum/QS will be combined with the Venture siggy once it hits a year in Dec. Unless you guys have better ideas. So 15.5k WEMC and a 16.5K Venture Sig should do well. And let that disco grow! That will be the end of the rebuild. Done.

Re: QS WEMC Application

What URL / Link did you use btw?  I heard the link for the WEMC version of Venture/QS no longer works as that was through Credit Karma and was for a limited time and although page is still up the offer is dead?.  Thanks

Re: QS WEMC Application

Update: My new QS WEMC came in the mail today. Sweet logo on the front of the card. Bye Red/Orange balls. Now wait 6 months and combine my QS MC to it and its all done. Discover, Visa Sig and a WEMC. Rebuild done and over with. If someone told me last year I'd have cards like this after BK. I'd laugh in their face. So thanks to a RN I know who said yes you can get a CC after BK. Huh? I never knew.

And to my lawyer who said you'll need a credit monitoring service for a while after DC. I would have never known about this forum until I signed up for MyFICO 3B service. THANKS GUYS/GALS!!!!

PS. The RN and her hubby had a nice Red Lobster dinner on me last year after my first CC arrived for 2k. Cap1 Plat. Now with 31k in total credit? Unbelieveable. Smiley Very Happy
