Should I apply for Chase Sapphire Preferred?

Hello (first post),

I wanted to get your opinion on if I should apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Info:

Income: 15k + 36k cap gains +$ 5500 college scholarship (application specialist said I could add include this)

CS- Transunion: 739, EQX- 733

I'm also a Chase Private Client (Idk if that helps)

Credit Card Limits: Discover (authorized user) $2500, Capital One (authorized user) $750, Capital One (my first card) $1000. I don't know if authorized user goes towards Chase's "5/24" rule

Re: Should I apply for Chase Sapphire Preferred?

With Chase it helps to have a banking relationship with them and the fact you're a CPC only aids that. My only concerns are 1) your scores and 2) your cards.

I'm assuming you got those scores from Credit Karma since it's only TU and EQ? I would make sure to get your FICO 08 scores first before anything else. Get at least a free EX score check from creditscore.com to at least have an idea where you stand or CreditCheckTotal for a free trial to get all 3 scores (makes sure to cancel before trial ends). With the cards Chase likes to see customers have experience with higher limits since CSP is a 5k minimum.

Having said all that I think your CPC status with Chase will probably override all that IMO. It probably wouldn't hurt to go to a local branch if you can to find out. If you're over 21 check them for preapproved offers as well along with the website.

I would say you will be declined. You only have 1 card you own. AU on the rest.

Maybe, just maybe try the Freedom.

BTW, a moderator will most likely move this to the credit card forum. This is the approval forum. You have not applied or been approved.

Re: Should I apply for Chase Sapphire Preferred?

Would it be easier to get Chase Freedom or Chase Freedom Unlimited?

Sign up for Chase Credit Journey. It's free. They give you a useless fako credit score monthly but they also do pre-qualified offers on there which appear to be pretty strong for people who apply through them when and if they pop up.

Also try Chase's website which has a pre-qualification form. Try it.

having $ means zero in getting plastic.  does your cpc show a pre-qual?  as soon as you get the screen that is when you jump imo
