got the wait for "7 - 10 days" message when I pulled the request just now... opened this Delta Skymiles Amex about 5 months ago - initial limit is 9500; reading through all these forums, wanted to test it .. requested an additional $10000 and make my limit to 19500 (because i must be below 25K cap). I have no other AMEX cards and my Experian Score is 780 (as per Premier Credit Manager) and utilization r/t of 4%; i really didn't need the increase in limit but curiosity got the better of me ..
will post the reason for denial { i am fairly confident its a denial - just hoping not a HP on my Experian file}
@scenery_guy
Bummer indeed, but thanks a bunch for sharing the datapoint. Verbiage reflecting your experience will be going to OP.
@sorachepa
Don't lose hope yet. Rev had success depite the 7-10 day message and there was one more data point as well. For all you know it could be a 4506T request too. Do you have a high available credit wrt Income?

They may want some documents from you (4506T).
@MustandSaluki - thanks - i will let you all know what the letter says once I get it. my total util is <4% with total available credit of about 46K, thats 50% of my sal. didn't know that factor has that much importance.. didn't know what 4506T is untill i googled it after seeing forums here. guess they want to confirm the sal i said i am getting with my tax return.. will see..
@LS2982 - thanks - guess that is normal now for 4506T request.. will let you all know once I get that mail. surely one more data point.
I just did this. $2000 to $6000, that was really easy.
I'm a converted believer!
Walmart Discover from $2000 to $3500 with the luv button.
CLI of $5500 for the month, happy fisherman here.
Beers on me!!!
I think this will be the proper place for my question instead of creating a new thread.
So, my timeline looks the following:
August 2012 - Opened BCE; limit - $2k
October 2012 - Got 3x CLI on BCE; limit - $6k
January 2013 - Opened PRG; NPSL
April 2013 - Opened SPG; limit - $2k
Usage pattern: BCE - ~$300-500 spent every month, mostly in groceries. Sometimes carries a balance (but never more than $600-700) for several months (still 0% intro APR)
PRG - spent $1k to collect the sign-up bonus. After that - only random charges for a weekend car rental or a phone bill once or twice a month.
SPG - no usage yet, just got it yesterday.
Other stats: Income - in low $50k, TU score around 730-740
Now, if I understand this
"Minimum 6 month since last CLI rule applies across ALL accounts held by an individual and includes both personal & business accounts for the same person. So if CLI was successful on a personal account, no CLI can be approved on all other personal and business accounts for the same person for a period of 6 more months"
in the "3x CLI guide" correctly, I have the following options:
1) Calculate 6 months from October 2012 (basically, it is now) and ask for a CLI on my BCE (max for $18k on BCE - but I don't believe it to be approved). It will be 6 months from the last CLI I was given by Amex
2) Calculate 2 months from April 2013 (some time in June 2013) and ask for a CLI on my SGP (max for $6k).
It will be 8 months from the last CLI and 2 months from account opening.
I can't really decide between those 2 options. CLI on BCE looks better (even if it is not 18k, but 15k or even 10k - it can still become my largest CL), but on the other hand I don't need that much on a single card now and I'd probably prefer to jump my SPG to 6k instead and use it as my go-to daily card.
Another concern I have is if "no CLI period of 6 months" from the last CLI takes into account only CLIs themselves, but not account openings. E.g., if I ask for CLI on BCE next week, won't they be surprised because of this due to a new account opened recently?
Any particular experience is appreciated!
Thanks
P.S. In essence, I don't really need any increase :-) I'm fine with existing CLs, but if I can get a CLI, I'd rather take it...
Seems like you have done your homework. I had a similar situation as yourself and got hit with a 4506T after requesting CLI 1 month past opening Platinum and PRG, on the card I had waited for 6 months. That is just one data point. There is an outside chance that opening new accounts prior to requesting CLI increases internal risk, but my situation was also complicated by some moderate manufactured spending I had indulged in as well as meeting spending requirements on Plat and PRG very quickly through Amazon Payment and other spending tricks that are common these days.
Income is another big factor depending and your total available credit. Those are all the cards you get to play with. Please share your experience whichever card you go for CLI.
I was just denied the other day, too. I've had the card for over a year, as far as I know have an excellent credit score, and am consistently between 1-2% utilization. The reason given was essentially that I have too much available credit (can't remember the exact wording). I really hope the denial doesn't mean a HP.
Ah, well.

Does the business card report on your personal credit reports?
No they do not. I have three AMEX business cards. The Platinum, the Delta Reserve and the SPG business.
