Gonna share my CLI story.
My eligibility date was 4/11/16, so like a kid awaiting Christmas I stayed up until midnight and applied soon after. Initial line was $8500, didn't want to ask for $25,500 and risk income verification so left it at $25,000 flat.
But there's a problem -
AMEX is on MST, not EST so at Midnight in NYC I was 2 hours early and still within 60 days so got denied for being too new. Live chatted and was told to wait 2 days. Cool.
I waited 1. I live on the edge.
Applied and get the instant email again saying to call in. At this point I'm like **bleep**? I call in and speak to a CSR and explained what happened, he says he's going to forward it to their underwriting team because it is a quirky situation and I shouldn't have to wait 90 days to reapply. Says I should get a response in 24-48 hours.
Still no update via apps, same $8500 limit. I'm antsy so I call in.
Alluding to the contradictory info some of you have gotten, the CSR I speak to told me I had to wait 90 days before re-request so my 2nd request would be denied too.
"Well what about the request being forwarded to the underwriting team? Are there no notes on that???"
"Let me see...(brief pause)...well, it looks like your request for an increase to $25,000 was approved sir."

My BCP is still on 0 APR until May 2017. Add in a 2K CLI on my Quicksilver and I had a great day. Sending Mom & Dad on a trip somewhere.
This is a great story. Congrats. I can not wait till 6/10 to ask for my 3X.
Thank you! Still pumped! Fingers crossed for you, hopefully yours is smooth sailing.
I had app'ed for CLI on Mar 8, 2016 and it was declined with the reason 'the account is under 60 days'. Todat i talked to AMEX excutive and got the info that, only on May 9 i can apply again,
I will be completing 60 days with the AMEX card tomororw, but sadly i have to wait.

So basically they reset the 60 day clock for you. Sorry to hear that. At least it is not 90 days.
Could not keep myself away from hitting CLI button before May 8, i requested for CLI today.
The reason to apply for CLI is my friend got approved for 3x limit two days back and this gave me some confidence (Over Confidence may be). I know each other credit profiles are different but when your friend gets approved for something like this your patience goes for toss..
Anyhow, this time i called AMEX Credit bureau folks and requested them for CLI request success/Failure chances and was told they will definetly try to give CLI as the last denial was AUTO. But even then, today's CLI request was denied too as it fell short of 90 days or 60 days period.
Good news is, my CLI request has been sent for manual review and the customer care girl sounded positive that i have chances for approval. Lets See. Nothing to lose ..
Will update the status once i hear from them. may be 1 or 2 days...
yes Nitrov.. well said and it is true.. I need to learn that....
CL increase request has been approved, i verified it in my AMEX account. From 2K to 6K. First account to cross 5K CL.
Thanks to the forum.
I was approved for my AMEX account on 11/10/2015, I received and activated the card on 11/13/2015 and was able to get a 2x CLI.
Based on the information in this thread, there is a chance that I may be able to obtain a 3x CLI 6 months after my first CLI, but I have 2 questions:
1. The 6 month clock started on 11/13/2015, correct?
2. Are my chances of receiving a 3x CLI low due to
a) hardly putting any real spend on this card? I did make large purchases ($1,000 and $1500)
b) currently having a balance of $1700/$2000? My closing date is 5/12 and hopefully by then the card balance will be $1500/$2000
Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you.
