Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Congrats. How long have you had your card and when did you try the other times? What were your stats and reason for denial?

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Thanks TinyKay.  I've had it since 10/28 of 2014, and on 12/31 of 2014  I went for the 3x CLI, was denied, do not remember why but I felt it was because I had a balance with them at 19%.  Tried again in April this year, denial reason was overall debt to credit ratio (high UTIs at overall 39% on other accounts, none for Amex).  This time around, everything was reporting at 0, and my last  EX FICO 08 pulled in Nov that I see on Amex's site said 724 score.

Starting Score: EX 651/EQ 654/TU 668
Current Score: 735/721/732
Goal Score: 751 as lowest score by 8MAY15

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

I followed this guide to the tee and it worked. I was approved initially for $10,000 BCE and then requested a CLI fater 61 days and was approved for $30,000.

My questions is where do I go from here? Can I go over $30,000? I requested another CLI the other week, but I got the 7-10 day message.

That's an interesting question. I have multiple AMEX cards (Platinum, Everyday Preferred, Clear), been a cardmember for 10+ years. My scores (as of 11/21, last time I did a 3B check) were EQ 811, TU 808, EX 801. No lates ever, no BK, no "baddies".

I saw your question here ("how high can I go?") and I wondered myself. I had $22.5K as CL on one of my cards, $42K across all my AMEX accounts (not including, of course, charge cards). So I tried for 2x CL increase on the 22.5K - a 3x CLI sounded a bit excessive to me.

Anyhow, it came back immediately approved - the new CL on that card is now $45K. So now you know that you can go *at least* $45K on a single AMEX account, and $60K+ across multiple AMEX accounts.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Looking to request a 3x cli from 7k to 21k on my personal AMEX but am also looking to apply for a new simply cash business card. Which should i do first ? I'd like to be approved for both. My scores are exactly 700 across.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Hoping to clairify something, if I may. I mistakenly put in for a CLI a couple of weeks before it had been 180 days since my last increase. Would this denial because I tried too soon start a 90 day clock, or would I be okay to go for it again once I know the original 180 days has passed? Thanks!
Year 2012: All Scores in the 520 range, during a foreclosure, CC Settlement and high UTIL. Very ugly days...
April 2023: EX8: 840; EQ8: 832; TU8: 842 -- Middle Mortgage Score: 822
In My Wallet: Discover $73.7K; Cap1 Venture $48.7K; Amex ED $38K; Amex Optima $2.5K; Amex Delta Gold $18K; Citi Costco $22.5K; Cap1 Plat $8.4K; Barclay $7K; Chase Amazon $6K; BoA Plat $21.6K; Citi TY Pref $21K; US Bank $4K; Dell $5K; Care Credit $6.5K. Total Revolving CL: $296K
My UTIL: Less than 1% - Only allow about $10 a month to report, on one account. .

The early request does not reset the timetable.  You're good to try at 180 days
