You didn't get it.  You might want to call anyway to see what they say.  The reason they told me had me scratching my head even more.

Generally, they want you to call because you tried too early. They use that call to explain the situation more clearly, or just as a sly way of ID'ing you... Bottom line is, you didn't get it. Make the call and ask them when you're eligible again.

I was approved for my 2nd Amex card (BCE) on Sept. 7th for $1000. I've had the ED card for about 8 months ($1000 limit, SL was $500). The CLI button appeared today on the BCE front page, which I'm currently using $800 out of the $1000 (to be PIF before due date). I notice that the CLI button was not on the ED card, so I hit the button on the BCE for the 3x and was approved. Limit is now $3000. Received the 3x @ Day 42. FICO 8s are currently EX: 678, TU: 672, EQ: 687. Just sharing!!!

Was approved for 2500 in mid May.

I was denied at 61 days. .

.... and that was exactly 90 very-berry long days ago.

I was contemplating to hit the button, was not really sure if I get lucky this time around due to a UNPAID/DISPUTED Medical Collection($180 or so) that should fall off at the end of NEXT year.

Guess What?!!!!

The 61 days only applies to new amex members right??

Has anyone tried for more than a 3x cli or is 3x the max?? Just curious

3X CLI is the max that can be requested.

They will only increase your credit line up to 200% at a time.

Just another data point...  some folks might remember I recently applied for and received an Amex EDP with a SL of 2K.  Monday was the 61st day for the account...  I applied for my 3X CLI and was instantly approved for 6K.
