They said they got that card at the start of their credit journey 10 months ago. And they apparently gained that massive number of cards and credit limits in that 10 months, including a $30,000 NASA card and a $15,000 Diners Club card, both of which are pretty recent cards for most people that have them. And US Bank denied a CLI?
Hmm, perhaps I don't recall where I was going with this. I can't figure out why they would deny a CLI either...

I know you dont know my full journey but you could have at least read the original post. Ive had this card almost 23 months NOT 10 months. My NASA cc I got before this one not recently like everyone else. What you obviously missed is that I'm irritated at thr score they said they used, the 616, they want to deny more for too many accounts well then so be it, but them throwing a 616 at me is crazy
I read the original post in this thread, of course. I don't go around researching everyones posts to see if they have made other posts that contradict the information they post in each thread.
Anyways, you obtained an ungodly amount of credit in 2 years. Naturally getting a CLI wil be difficult with creditors, they won't see any profit in doing so.

@One7 wrote:Haha sorry it just got me aggravated whenever you so "usefully" used the words "ya think" and "signed captain obvious" on info you gave that had absolutely nothing to do with the question. You could of said that any other way but instead said it like a 14 year old teenager. Then you wonder why people get irritated. This is supposed to be a forum to help others not a place to be ignorant and bash people because they chose to go a different route when rebuilding, seems like my route worked pretty darn good, my scores are all in the low to high 700s now from the 500s there were just two years back. Dont "ya think"?
I'm actually 40... and I kinda get aggravated too when I get smartass replies to my posts.
Thing is though, it wasn't you... it was the other guy. All I had said was "40 new accounts are you really surprised?" which is 100% true... because new accounts DO matter. Then I get a "signed, mr. respectful blah blah" reply and that got the snowball rolling downhill...
Now that you know there is a difference between FICO 08 and 04 you should be good to go. You already know that opening 40+ accounts with $100k, oops, $256k worth of credit lines in 2 years leaves you wide open for "too many new account" and "too many inquiries" denials so at least you won't have to make a post about it next time.
Grats on your rebuild...
Thank you for the info, sorry for being a jerk I let the thread get the best of me. I try to be as nice and respectful as possible and I really have came from to the dumps with my credit scores so when I get negative imput it gets the blood flowing. Thanks again for the help

Yeah it makes sense I did get tons of new credit, I'm just not happy with their score they used. Makes me feel like I'm going backwards instead of forwards with my credit. Time to let things age
@One7 wrote:I got this card at the beginning of my journey as a secured card, after a year I asked for it to be unsecured which they did for me. Its been 10 months since then and they still wont give me anything and its by far my lowest limit sitting at $300... ughhhh Anyway I requested an increase online with their rediculous old school form and today got a letter saying I was denied yet again. They said too many new accounts (which is true) but also that my TU score was 616... 616? Seriously 616? What TU are they pulling? Even though it was a SP all my TU scores are above 720; Discover, Walmart, Barclays and even all the Fakos. The fakos all say I have near 800 scores. So what gives? A 616? I haven't had a score like that in a year and a half... very disappointed at them and as soon as this card hits 2 years its gone! Planned on getting it to 5k and then PCing it to a better US Bank product but apparently that'll never happen. 616??? Really?
OP, in my case, they used to pull TU Bankcard enhanced 04, which is not only a different mechanism but also a different range. And it always showed 70-80 points lower than my TU FICO 08 (Discover).
In my understanding, this Bankcard enhanced penalizes new accounts and inquiries heavily.
Is that what the letter mentioned?
For new accounts, they've pulled EX for me. They're also known to pull IDA, ARS, Innovis etc. Some of those show many more inquiries than standalone TU, EX, or EQ.
There certainly are some less than friendly and supportive posts in this thread.
A reminder that the "S" in F, S, and R doesn't stand for sarcastic.

US Bank was the first card I received (by way of recon) that began my credit journey some 18 months ago. Feeling bold, I decided to ask them for a CLI on my 2k line recently. I don't know what they use (score model), but the SP came back with an approval to my requested new tradeline, 5k.
I say all this to let you know that I feel your annoyance. Had in fact US Bank declined me, I would have been annoyed, as I now have various cards with much higher limits, and am stronger and a better person (to lend to), but my "first love" still refuses me? And cites an even more irritating reason of resurrecting an old score had that they just can't and won't let go of?
To the left, to the left.
Thanks for the info, next year I'm letting go of quite of few cards that helped me rebuild and this one will most likely be one of them. Maybe in 2016 I'll pursue another US Bank card, possibly the Flex Perks once I get some age on these newer accounts. Maybe you are right and they are using a SP from a year ago, who knows
Nooooo! I have the Flex Perks. It's a purgatory card. There's not explicit cash back like the US Bank Cash+, there's not well defined transferrable points like AMEX cards and even CSP and many others have, you earn "points" (using the word charitably) within their own walled garden of both earning and usage. The "double points" are on the roulette wheel of what you spent most on that month, rather than knowing what you are getting into. Even redemptions seem a real challenge. And it has a $50 AF, which isn't terrible, until I realize that there's not really any definable benefits to owning the card.
No foreign transaction fees. Is that enough?
I'm keeping mine for a while because the CL is substantial, we'll see what happens, but I would not app for it again, knowing what I know now. I did get $50 back for making 5 $50+ charges on it, so that helps, but I've not charged much since then.

They said it was for new accounts and gave me an insanely low score that they used. I only have 2 INQs last time I checked on TU. Blows my mind how big of a difference that is

I've heard it wasn't the best card but I don't live anywhere near a branch in order to apply for the Cash+, any other good US Bank cards you would recommend? I wont be applying for a year but its good to be ready
@One7 wrote:I wont be applying for a year but its good to be ready
I dunno man... by the looks of it you have the room in your portfolio for at least 18-22 more cards.
