Okay so current credit limit is 14,100 and was wanting to increase to $24,000. Excellent credit and no late payments or anything. 2 hard inquiry's from April 2012. Opened the BCE account in May 2012.
First representative told me was going to be soft pull. and then said they would get back to me within 7-10 days by mail. But when I asked if it was approved or not she transferred me to "Line of Increase Credit Dept."
spoke to them and they told me I was declined because I made the minimum payment last month and that was too low compared to the account balance.
I told the rep that I was taking advantage of the 0% APR offer and have always paid all of my other credit card accounts in full every time.
Is there anything I can do? They didn't even give me a counter credit limit offer. Any ideas as to what I can do to have them approve this?
Sorry, but I don't think they will....Amex really doesn't like it if you carry a balance with them. In general, the advice here is to always pay in full before your statement cuts if you're about to ask for an increase.
Ah didn't know that. Basically just wanted to reduce overall util by increasing the CL.
I did call back and they said they would send to another department for review and to call back after 72 hours.

Yes AMEX is one of those lenders that likes low UTI at time if app and CLI.
Good luck and keep us posted
