Amex 3x CLI approved

I continue to be bemused by Amex. Today marked 6 months since I requested a CLI on my surpass (1k to 3k). Today, I requested a CLI on my true earnings, 5k to 15k. Instant approved. My credit scores haven't changed markedly in almost a year. My income hasn't changed in longer. I haven't made a big purchase on an Amex since June and I only use the TE for Costco purchases. I do use the hilton surpass pretty heavily, but obviously never more than 3k at a time. I got denied for a student forward last spring and have had to recon two out of three for chase, but Amex has never said no to anything (going back to 1988). Maybe I should ask them to give citi a call?

For those who track such things: I had no balances on either Amex at time of request, but had 2500/12000 reporting on united mpe. Highest CL was 13k with usaa, lowest is 3k on hilton surpass. I have 5 negatives on exp, 3 on eq, 4 on tu, all from 2006-2007. My mortgage shows as paid in full and the refi hasn't posted yet. Income just north of 100k, biggest single charge 11k on a zync in June. I only know my actual fico for eq, which is 716. Ck is 700, ck vantage 860, cred sesame 726.
In wallet: Ink Plus 10k, AMEX TE 25k. In bag: CSP 16k, USAA WMC 15k, Hyatt 13k, United MPE 12k, AMEX HHonors 3k. In SD: Cap 1 QS 5k, Discover IT 7k. FICO 08 says my EQ is now 844, was 510 in 2010.

Re: Amex 3x CLI approved

I carried a balance for one month when a reimbursement for a hotel didn't process in time. Otherwise, I pif. My wife routinely carries balance on her Amex clear, has scores in the 760s and has never been approved for a CLI with Amex. This despite the CL being 6200 and her 2nd lowest card being 16,600. Only two data points, but...

Re: Amex 3x CLI approved

Don't remember word for word, but ratio of balances to limits was definitely one.
