Amex Counter offered 3xCLI

So, I finally made it to the 61 days and apply for the 3xCLI today. Since I got the card, I ran 300-400 dollars a month and PIF before statement cut. My original CL was 2k and they denied my request for 6k and offered me 3600 instead. Is that because my anual income is only 10k? I'm a fulltime student, 19yo, and have 1.2 years of credit history.

Take it,and work on your CL slowly. With income and time, you'll get there..

Take the offer Smiley Wink

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Amex Counter offered 3xCLI

Although it seems posts always get the 3x CLI until they are up in the $25k or going to go over that if they ask for the full 3x, counters are not unusual.  My partner was given an instant $7500 on his Costco Amex in 2011 but then between a negative that popped up around is 60 day mark from something that wasn't his but took 3 months to get removed it was about 6 months before he was able to even request a CLI so that may have played into it but it was increased to $15k and then at 1 year mark basically he asked to go to $25k and they countered at $18,200 where he is now.  He also added just 2 months ago now the Blue Cash Preferred that I primarily use but found out today that the Costco CLI won't be 6 months old until June so we will actually be 3 months on Blue before first CLI can be done.... fingers crossed... but I would not be upset about not getting your full 3x, especially with such new credit, with such low income, and if updated sigi, looks like they are your highest... Congrats that at 19 you have both a charge and a credit card with amex... you are doing GREAT!

Re: Amex Counter offered 3xCLI

I was approved for $5400. I requested $15k total CL and they countered with $8500. I took it.

So its pretty normal. And I think in your case income plays a big roll.

AMEX: $25,000, CSR: $10,000, Chase Priority Club: $1,500, Freedom: $5000, Freedom Unlimited: $1000, Discover: $21,000, BoA $11,000, WF Cash Wise: $5000

Re: Amex Counter offered 3xCLI

Thanks guys, I was hoping to pass the 5k mark, but I'm happy about it. On the good side, my BCE has the highest limit so far. Hopefully in 6 months I can reach that goal, maybe I'll ask for a 5k CLI on my IT card in june Smiley Wink
