I love American Express.
I applied for the American Express Blue Cash last may and got approved for their Blue Cash Preferred with a starting limit of 16k. After doing research on Myfico I learned about the 3x limit after 61 days. Knowing I couldn't get 3x since my limit was already high, that would've made my new limit 48k, so I asked for 9k to bring my total limit to 25k.
They approved the 25k and I never asked for another increase because I assumed that was the max allowed without dealing with paperwork.
This morning, 1 month before my 1 year anniversary with the card, I logged on to look at my billing statement and noticed I received an automatic increase to 29,500. I really didn't expect them to just give me more when I already had a more than a generous amount. Granted, I do put a lot on this card based on my year end summary.
I just wanted to share my experience, I really love this card. However, without trying to sound ungrateful or whiny, I don't like the weird credit limit, 29,500? I rather 29,000 or a nice 30,000. LOL. I hate having 500 sitting there. I'm lame, I know.
Congratulations with the auto-CLI and thanks for sharing your experience with us.
LOL Congrats!!! Sounds like the character Adrian Monk, you need to have nice round numbers
Just received my AMEX delta gold and can't wait to do a CLI when the times comes.

While I want to congratulate you on the CLI, I want to warn you that limits over 25k on American Express are much more likely to be subjected to the dreaded FR!!!! Just something you might wish to keep in mind.
Even if the CLI wasn't initiated by myself? They gave me the increase without me asking.
Either way, I'm not worried about an FR because everything I told them in the application is accurate, in fact, there has been an increase in salary since the opening of the card, but thanks for looking out! :-)
Congrats on the CL increase!
I, too, learned about the 3x CLI rule from the forums and used that at the 6-month mark. I went from a starting SL of $6k to $18k. It's made a huge difference when looking at my overall util % over all cards.
My plan is to CLI up to $25k sometime in July. Like you, I don't dare push the envelope any further. Even though I am using my total household income (both mine and my husband's, which is allowed by law), I also believe in not biting the hand that feeds me. If AMEX wants to grant me more later on, I won't object!
FYI - LOVE the 6% back on groceries up to $6k and 3% on dept stores and gas. As a result, I wind up using it more than my Chase Freedom, which I think will get in the SD very soon!
