Another $500 Discover CLI... I am cursed

Decided to try again since I am setting travel notifications tonight, what do you know, another $500!

...up to a grand total of a whopping 9k limit now. I am pretty sure this thing started at 7.5k almost a year ago so that's 3 $500 CLIs, and I've probably run $1000 total through it.

And people say Discovery is a path to easy high limits

still a $500 increase. That could be a starting limit for a card

Congrats on the increase... Least you started out at 7.5k vs. 1k I started at when my other cards are around 15k average..  I am on the 500 bandwagon as well up to a whopping 3500... They will be cancelled shortly after the year mark after I get my double cash if they don't start offering more than 500's..  People say Discover is great.. They love some and not so much others.  I can live without them and I am sure they can live without me ).. We shall see in another two months once it hits a year if I can break the 500 increase along with a huge apr reduction as they are lowest CL by far and highest apr I have by far.  Two no no's

That's frustrating of them with how they SO SLOW grind things little by little stretched by 91 days etc.

But i come to learn that's about the best they are willing to do with some card customers.

Whatever it is that makes them throttle against good upward momentum like we find many others enjoy is anybodys guess.

In these instances we just have to settle with it as it is.

Good for you that you did get a nice SL to build up on. Mine started at $1400 in 2013 and today is a mere 10K which i suppose sufficient for their measurements.

You're doing better than me... I've been with Discover for 2 years. Never been over 60% utlitzation (one time occurence). typically in the 10 to 15% range. use the card several times a week with a minimum of 2 payments every month.... to this day, including the request 2 days ago that was denied, I have not gotten a CLI.

Congrats on CLI!   As someone mentioned in another thread, Discover still considers you a "new" customer for about 18-24 months.   So it can take some time before they start growing.   My Disco CLIs were $500 a pop, until one day they went to $1500, and then up from there.   My last CLI with them was $5K.

Hey, don't complain. $500 is a lot to me. I'm in their $300 slot

All they ever give me is $300.

Might be a good idea to try to run more $$ through it! $1000 in a year isn't a ton of usage and in my experience, they seem to like to see more spend. Big time YMMV disclaimer, of course.

Word for word exactly what djdarx said.

I started off with 3.5k and was stuck on the $500 CLI Train.

It wasnt until i started spending more and PIF that i started getting some big time CLIs.

In 1.5 years i went from 3.5k to 32000. In 2016 yearly spend through the card was about 17k.

Fico scores within the time from open to present ranging from 730-770 on TU and income 75k

Hope the data points help. Discover has a mind of its own but i would definitely try to put more spend and see if you get different results. 

Oh and also i always got BIG CLIs after two day reviews. I think i got the slider maybe twice for a couple of thousand.  Good Luck
