Two years ago, I couldn't even open up a checking account under my own name (score was 515). Since then, I've paid off and removed all collections from my credit reports... the only bad things that remained were 8 student loans (still showing 3, 180 marks on each of them) and a paid judgement from 2008. They're still on my credit reports.
Since then, I opened 10 TLs and managed accounts nicely--Capital One cards, some store cards, a Discover It secured card, and my first auto loan through BMW.
One of my biggest goals on this journey was to have my own Amex. Last night, I pulled the trigger and got instantly approved for the Everyday card... $1,000.... I know it's not much, but it feels like a huge accomplishment for someone like me after what I put my credit through in the past.
I'm so happy!
My Ex Fico score was 660 when I applied and I had 16 inqs (car loans, store cards, etc).
Staying in the garden now!
THank you all for your help and encouraging over the last two years.
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
Huge congrats.
I know how you feel becausae getting an AMEX was my benchmark as well on my rebuilding journey.
Congrats!
congrats on your amex approval
WOW, that's great. Congrats!
Thank you everyone so much! I was beyong ecstatic.
@eddie, I got a 2014 X3! I live in the North East so I wanted a nice car/SUV that I could also drive in the winter--the snow is really bad here! The X5 was reallllllllllly nice and calling my name, but I'm a single guy so I really didn't have the need for such a big SUV. I'm loving the X3 though! Thank you for asking!
Good to hear another data point that a revolver ED can be obtained with a 660... Congrats, hope to be with amex early next year when my experian is around 670 to 680ish.
