So recently I've made heavy heavy use of my credit lines. Spanning 8 cards or so, 6 are 90% util or higher, 2 are 80% or higher. I have 3-4 other cards that weren't used.
Barclays increased my limit from 3160 to 4200 after I sent in a couple of 500-1k payments to get the balance down from 3100 to 2100 (also charged another 1k during the paying down period).
Was half expecting them to CLD me, not auto CLI me...
Congrats! Barclay has given me CLI at 6 months and a year. I carried a balance then also.
wow impressive, I only have 2k on my Apple Financing
I was just surprised because I have heard many horror stories of Barclays AA when you carry lots of balances. So this was abnormal.
I've had a Barclays Rewards Mastercard for almost a year now, with a $5k CL. I've mostly kept the card under 50% utilization, but it crept up a little more last month, and posted over 50% before I had a chance to pay it down. Imagine my surprise when I checked my account and found a new CL of $9k! That's right, they gave me a $4k CLI, when I had over 50% utilization on the card. My overall utilization was about 22% I have NO idea what their reasoning behind that was, and it seems to go against everything you hear about Barclays, but I'm not going to complain.
