Re: Barclays recon success

So as I said before I was instantly denied, however this morning i called and got a ver nice english speaking credit analyst, and within 2 minutes he overturned their decision and approved me!! He asked how much I wanted and I just threw out $1700, or whatever they saw fit, he said he approved me for $1700! I want to call back and ask for more, but I might just stick what what I have since I know this is a card that can grow with me.Smiley Happy

Congrats Logan!  I told you it could pay off.  Just stick with the $1700 and eventually you'll get a CLI.  I wouldn't call back because you never know that someone else could overturn the approval. Smiley Wink

Re: Barclays recon success

Thats what I am starting to think. I was used to talking to the guys over at Chase who are always saying no, but Barclay customer service is simply amazing.

Re: Barclays recon success

@logan . How many cards are you carrying and what kind of limits? I ask because I want this card but have only a year of cc history.

Re: Barclays recon success

Currently I have - Capital One Journey - $1750CL Capital One Playstation card - $500CL but I am going to recon for a higher limit BofA Student - $600CL Credit union Visa - $600CL but I will upgrade this soon American Express Zync - NPSL Barclay visa - $1700CL Amazon Store Card - $1200CL I started out with my Journey card last February. I have only had about 13 months of credit history. I also plan on gardening for othe next year or so then plan on upgrading to more prime cards. However the end exception is in about 6 or 7 months i plan on applying for the Gold Delta Skymiles card since my Zync card isn't upgradable. I would say apply for the Barclay Card, and if you are denied, call them and try to Recon with them. They are very nice and not like any of the other banks, like Chase. I also have a high number of inquiries, really high, but under 20 and was still approved, for the amount of my choosing.

Heh things I do that are guaranteed to get me a "no" answer -

1. Ask for a raise

2. Ask a beautiful woman out

3. Ask for a Cap One CLI

YMMV!

Re: Barclays recon success

I learned my lesson with Capital One and their CLI. Finally after getting tired with such a small line, I started a chat with a specialist, and threated to close my accounts, all three, to which he replied back with a CLI, and he also signed me up for another series of credit steps so in July I will receive another CLI. I did end up closing one of my accounts with them and when they asked why I wanted to, I just told them that my credit lines with them are not growing with me, the CSR then told me that Capital One is very conservative with CLI's. I'm glad they finally told me.
