So, the whole UNFCU "seed" started over a year ago by a post from longtimelurker. It piqued my curiosity for a variety of reasons which included issuance of true chip+PIN cards. I had previously joined one of their listed affiliations for $25 about a year ago but didn't do the membership until sometime during September. Sorry this post is a bit late Notwithstanding, a big shout-out to baller4life, ddemari, CreditCuriosity, Ron1 plus others for their support and guidance in making this happen.
In a nutshell, the whole UNFCU's membership and loan products review process is very long, manual and slower than watching paint dry. Weeks went by and they eventually contacted me to finalize the initial membership and funding of two accounts (Premium Checking and their default savings - minimum funding of $50). And, since my membership was still new, they took my Visa Elite application via WebChat - this was on Oct 7. And, off it went to the underwriting peeps. I received confirmation during mid-October that it was finally approved after submitting several docs and lots of back-and-forth. As I shared my experience with baller, this required a witches gray hair, a cat's whisker plucked in the middle of the night, two sit-ins by the moonlight naked, some blood (and possibly a promise of a firstborn when approved). They requested POI for the last two years. And,after the Pope's blessing:
Yes, that's 70,000
Previous approvals that took place during Sep-Oct (as the above was processing and under review) were Commerce Bank's Special Connections Visa Signature (I posted the pre-approval info on someone's thread a while back), Huntingon Voice WMC (2nd Huntington Bank CC) and Fifth Third Real Life Rewards WMC (2nd 5/3 CC). And, a sprinkle of some Credit Union memberships and CC approvals prior to these that included Alliant, DCU, Wright-Patt, etc.
FinStar those approvals are spectacular!!!! SPECTACULAR!!! WrightPatt Credit Union never heard of it. google google lol.
Have you done a Simmons app before? Granted you are probably above them and what they can offer you maybe i'd love to be a fly on the wall of their manual approval/ board meeting one day lol.

Good question. A long time ago I did but they laughed at me LOL. So, Simmons First and Iberia Bank were kinda the "Holy Grail" of CCs for a while and even folks with 800+ scores couldn't even land them. So, even if I tried again (when all inquiries fall off) they'd probably giggle and *maybe* approve it for $5K. Not that $5K is a bad CL but given that some CUs have lower APRs and higher SLs than Simmons, my $$$ would be going to a CU My mom has Simmons and Iberia Bank but she's had them for ages!
Congrats on the amazing approvals Finstar!
Speaking of Simmon's I have a branch right down the street from my office.. Been tempted to step in there and a bit of money in there as I know they use to be the holy grail of issuer's. As you stated many CU's beat them now and offer alot better limits and are less sensitive. Still just curious about them kinda like crystal visa infinite that is about two blocks from my work, doubt they would even let me open a checking/savings accounts.. One day my scores will be there where I can play like you do and get a fraction of the approvals amounts you have obtained!
Congrats Finstar - awesome SL!

truth! simmons 10k credit line at 7.25, blah compared to CU products and the limits they can see.
I dont know much about Visa Elite. Other than some apps online offering visa Elite seem to have this 75k income requirement? this app from Standard Chartered seems a bit age discrimenatory? can't be older than 60 to get it?
looked at app and its foreign, so nevermind lol.
Oh my god all I can say is wow!! Congrats Finstar!
Finstar Finstar he's our man! If he can't do it no one can!! That's Amazing!!!!!!!!
