Chase Sapphire Preferred Approve

Hey guys,

I just graduated college and started working full time about a month ago making 55k/yr. I have a BOA credit card $3000 CL utilizing about 39% of it, have had it almost 2 years and have never missed a payment, always paying more than the minimum due each month. I also have 47k in student loan debt, lease a car, and have no rent/ mortgage.

I love everything about the Chase Sapphire Preferred card... 2x points at restaurants/ bars, 3x points first Friday of each month, no foreign transaction fees, etc. It's the perfect card for my lifestyle. I want to know if you guys think I will get approved or your thoughts.

Thanks for your help!

- Jason

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred Approve

Thanks for quick response,

Yes - credit karma is stating I have a CS of 715. I can also get my utilization down to 1% or whatever percent they recommend before applying.

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred Approve

Credit Karma is a FAKO. Although Chase will use an internal score its always wise to know what's on your cr before applying. Your chances will be much better with a lower util.

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred Approve

Chase likes low util so getting util below 10% is important. Start with Chase freedom and 3 months after that apply for csp.

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred Approve

do you have any other chase cards? i am guessing no. i had a chase card (originally WAMU that became chase 2 years ago) and one of the new features they added is "check for pre-approval" and when I checked, it said i can get CSP. i do have some good history with Chase by that time - so I got that card. i am not sure if anyone without a chase card can check for these pre-approvals .. if they show you all three (Slate, freedom and CSP), then you are okay for CSP. if not, starting with Slate or Freedom is better - as suggested earlier here. just my 0.02

good luck.

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred Approve

Getting your UTL lower will def help you out. What is your credit history like? How long have you been building credit? From what I heard, Chase also like to see a history of managing credit. Whats your AAoA like?

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred Approve

Thanks!

I can definitely get my UTL down to 1 percent before I apply so that's good. I'm fairly new to credit having opened my first student loan account about 5 years ago and my first revolving credit card account 1 year and 10 months ago.
