In early December, it will mark 6 months since I opened my Citi card. I am anxious to make use of the much-discussed Luv buttons, and was hoping to get some advice. My payment is due December 2, so I'm going to wait until the new statement generates a few days later before trying it. Is that the right strategy?
Also, I'm nervous about the amount to request. My current CLI is $1900, so is it reasonable to ask for an increase of $1500? If you ask for something too hgh, will they automatically decline or will they counter with something else?
requested an increase on my 7th month, requested 2k increase and was counteroffered with a 1k increase without a hard pull, brought my total line from 4k up to 5k.
Good luck to you, I love Citi
I would definately wait until after you make your payment. And if you request too high, they will counter. If you are worried about it turning into a HP, call rather than do it on the website and make sure you make it clear to the CSR that you don't want a HP.
I've had 2 LUV button experiences with them! They are usually soft pulls. I would shoot high (not super high) because the system always has counteroffered me. If you accept the counteroffer its a SP, but if you REALLY want your desired CLI, then it requires further review and is a HP. I feel their automated system is pretty generous. My CL shot up decently quick. Due for another LUV button tangle in a month or so
After reading above, another question...is the standard Citi Six Month Luv Button thing six months after your account was opened, or your sixth billing cycle?
Also, I've noticed that they redesigned their website...hopefully the luv button will sill appear there.
Asks for Income and amount, and asks to authorize them to check your report. It is only a soft pull. One poster mentioned they wanted a CLI for PT purposes. In this case I'd call and (hopefully) get someone who can help you, might be more lenient with that reason in mind.
CLI requests are accepted after the 6th statement cuts, correct? I opened my card in early June, so I've had statements dated 6/20, 7/20, 8/20, 9/20/,10/20. Does that mean that once I receive the 11/20 statement, I'm good to go?

I opened mine in early June too, though I didn't get a statement for that month. When my statement generates in early December, that will be the 6-month mark since opening my account, so i'm hoping that's the time!
I also heard Chase has been doing auto CLI lately, and they don't have the Luv Button thing like Citi. When a CC does an auto CLI, do they do it when the new statement generates or at random times throughout the month?
