Hello everyone,
I've had Capital One for almost 3 years and they've only increased my limit once. Can anyone tell me how their relationship with capital one has been. Truly appreciate it
Although I'm sure you'll get an earful from all the "haters", you might just want to do a search on previous posted threads on this subject.
Direct quote from Cap1 letter recently posted:
Capital one does not accept consumer initated CLIs on the majority of their cards.
They give CLIs very infrequently and unpredictably. Most of their rebuilder cards have a CL ceiling of 2 or 3K which you may or may not ever reach.
i called to check status on cli on my secured card, and was informed that they have there own review and when it comes up they will issue or call to inform about it

I've had a cap one builder card since 2000. They gave me an increase to 2600 from 1600 last June. I could care less. I use it every now and then to keep it active, but the CL limit is too low to really use it. Plus, it's my oldest card. I'm it bitter, it gave me credit when no one else would! Im not a "hater", I have just out grown them....and that's a good thing!
+1
They have their use, but with their refusal to upgrade people to prime products once they have better credit, you eventually outgrow them.
I had that same problem. So today I logged into my account,, and started a chat with a specialist. I threated to close all three of my accounts if they were't able to grant me a limit increase today because my Capital One card is quickly being surpassed, by card like my Amex Zync. I am used to the generic, "Every so often we review accounts." message. I told me I would close my accounts, without hesitation. He replied my giving me a credit limit increase of $500, and another $500 in July of 2012. He essentially signed me back up for the credit steps program. So a bit if a success story. However, I am still looking for replacement cards.

You were able to get a CLI through the chat? That's amazing! I would have imagined the chat reps would have even less power than the phone reps.
Yeah, I was surprised. I wasn't sure it would be possible. But I still closed one of my accounts anyway. It might also be because I used the card pretty heavily in the past. It's always worth a try. But if my Chase recon is successful tomorrow, I may still cancel it.
I don't hate Capital One but like previously mentioned, their cards don't grow with you. I've had a Capital One card for nearly 6 years and haven't had a CLI in over 3 years. Their customer service is also so-so. Just my two cents.
