Well, I tried for my second CLI on Discover. I tried to get a SP online, failed twice and called the next day.
Asked politely (and repeatedly) if It was possible to get any increase without a hard pull, and they insisted on the HP.
I did get a $2000 increase this time. I talked about the chrismas and after christmas sales, etc. Explained why I had all these cards opened this year and no credit in the past (I never used credit before, always used debit cards, etc). And how I would be happy if I could get a $2000 increase to get the card to $5000.
Well, it worked. Last time I waited 6 months and accepted a HP and only got $1000, so I'm pleased to have waited only 3.5 months (had to get most of my cards to report $0) and to have finally gotten the Discover IT to $5000.
congrats

Congrats. I'm eligible for a CLI on my D-IT in a couple of weeks, but will only do it if it's a SP b/c it's also my highest APR card of all 4 of my non-store cards. If I'm going to burn an HP on a CLI, I'll do it with one of the other 3.
Congrats!

How long after opening the card did you have to wait for a CLI?

Apparently it is now 3 months between CLI requests. But when I got my card, it was still 6 months.
