Finally got approved for something

I decided to make an account after luking for awhile now.

Normally, I don't apply for anything that requires a hard pull, but I went on a mini credit card app spree over that last week and tripled my availble credit.

Last week, I started with an Amazon since I read on here how easy they are to get and was approved with an $700 credit line. Then I decided I might as well apply with Walmart since it's the same bank and I approved again with a $700 credit line. Today, I applied for an Discover it student card, but was denied. Honestly, I expected for that to happen, but thought I would try anyway.

Now, I have a total of four cards and I think i'm going to leave it that way until my credit score gets above 680 (currently at 630).

Welcome to the board and grats on all your new cards. Now sit back and garden these for 6 months then you can look at getting more if you wish. Smiley Happy

Agreed, good job and kick back with those.  All you need is a few and 12 months of history to get going good with prime lenders.  Follow that suit and avoid more apps right now.  I'd say try for Discover in 6 months.  Then in 12 months go for other prime lenders.

I'm definitely not applying for anymore credit until atleast September, but I will be paying my old cards down since both are close to the limit.

Try the luv button for both since it wouldn't be a hp.

I'm scared synchrony will start asking for verification information and I don't want to go through what many others on here have, even if it did drop my utilization down below 20%. Plus, I don't think I need more than $700 per card right now.

Re: Finally got approved for something

They won't ask for verification but no sense wasting your time. It is highly unlikely you'll get a bump at 630. When your TU is 650 and you've had months of payments - likely to get $3,500 on each. Once your TU hits 680-definitely will get CLI and likely up to $6k.

Congrats on your new cards and the rebuild!
NFCU: $25,000; PenFed Power Cash Rewards: $3,500; PenFed Gold: $2,500; Capital One: $2,300; Nordstrom Visa: $2,000; Credit One: $1,250
Amazon: 800; Kohls: $1,500
