First counteroffer ever!! JCP CLI!!

So I haven't gotten a cli on my JCP cars since January, I think??

Called the auto system for a cli from $4900 to $6500 (no reason, just felt that was a good number).
Denied that amount, but they countered with a cli to $5900.
Funny thing is... I was considering cld'ing this account haha so my other creditors (Amex would wanna give me a higher limit).

Oh well... I'd say $1,000 of a cli is a good thing no matter what :-P. I hope they still send me a free TU FICO haha that's why I did it.
I always pif on this account btw!!! Haven't paid a dime of interest in prob two years!!

Re: First counteroffer ever!! JCP CLI!!

Thank you for posting this!  I've been on a soft pull CLI spree the last two days, and managed to increase my JCP from 2600 to 4850 after reading your post!  I also got the counteroffer; I asked for 5k (like you, just a number I settled on) and got a denial and a counteroffer.

Yay for CLI!  This should be helpful on my util, which is pretty good as it is.  Smiley Happy

WOW! EQ when I joined myFICO: 657. Ups and downs and a few bumps and bruises, but finally back over 700. Whew!

Congrats on the CLI!!!

I have noticed that you have multiple cards with a lots of credit limts. How do you keep each one of them active? Or  do you only use a select few and not bother about the other ones?

Re: First counteroffer ever!! JCP CLI!!

I keep them ALL active lol... It's a hassle but a high credir score takes work!

What I do is alternate the accounts And charge small charged to each every few months(not at the same times).

The only cards I use regularly are: Amex BCE, Walmart Discover...
To avoid account closure, I'd recommend using each account at least once every six months for s'thing small and pif. GECRB especially is notorious for cutting limits to like $124 or $224 for inactivity. Hope that helps!

Re: First counteroffer ever!! JCP CLI!!

Congrats Lisa!! That's weird that they wouldnt increase it to the full $5000 haha I think GE takes off $50 from the CL for every point you don't have. So maybe your score was 3 pts short of the score needed for the full $5000 hahah!

Yw btw :-)
