Re: GECRB Walmart CLI

You just need it give it more time!

This is my experience with my Walmart card:

Opened card 8/12 with $500 CL.

Asked for CLI 1/13 = DENIED!

Asked for CLI 3/13 = $200 CLI to $700 CL

Auto upgraded to Walmart/Discover 8/13 with a $3500 CL

Asked for CLI 3/14 = $2500 CLI to $6000

So you may start out slow with Walmart but after demonstrating good credit habits they can be very generous with CLI.

Look at me, I went from a $500 CL to a $6000 CL in 18 months.

Re: GECRB Walmart CLI

GE is funny (sort of).  I applied for a Walmart credit card in March 2013 and they gave me the store card @400 limit.  I kept the card for four months (got a cli to $800 before closing.  Closed the card in July 2013 and turned around and applied for the card again ten minutes after closing and was approved for the Walmart Discover.  Thought I would get a cli with Discover.  Not!  Approved for $800.  Four months later, auto cli to $1,800.  Four months later in March 2014 I received no auto cli so I called credit solutions for a cli.  CSR said how much.  I said a total credit line of $3,000.  She came back and said the system approved me for $4,300 and asked which credit limit did I want.  Well that was a crazy question to ask.  I sit at $4,300 credit line.  GE just converted my TJX store card to a Platinum Mastercard with a cli of $1,500.  I've just had that card since October 2013 with an initial credit line of $400.  They seem to like that starting $400 line with me.  I recently applied for the eBates card and was denied to the point that I couldn't recon.  Credit analyst told me that they couldn't override the system on my denial.  I received the denial notice and I was denied due to too many inquiries in the last 12 months.  I guess that's becuase this was a signature Visa card since they converted the TJX card two weeks later.  There's no ryme or reason to GE.  I only use my Walmart Discover card to charge about $100 or less each month and always PIF before statement cuts.  The TJX card I've only charged something on it twice for about $50 and PIF before statement cuts.  It seems different people have different success with GE.  I wanted that eBates card very bad but it wasn't meant to be.

If you've only had the cards for 6mos then give it some more time.  You're not entitled to CLI's (or CC's for that matter) so just be patient and not get caught up with how others are getting CLI's all the time. My Walmart card started at $150 and it was around 6mos or so when I got my first CLI which was to $450, then $900, then $2000, then $2800, and now its at $5000.

I never said I was entitled to anything... I am just calling BS on the "GE will give you CLI's after 4 months" posts that are plastered all over this forum.

I'm sure in 2 years when my 13 drops off my report I'll see the increases you speak of... in the meantime I will continue to laugh at these joke $100 CLI's that GE throws my way especially when I get my CL doubled by Barclay and Cap One.

Not worried about it... I've demonstrated plenty of good credit habits over the last year.  I don't need GE's love... I was just expecting a bit more than $100 after 6 months with 4 different cards.

Re: GECRB Walmart CLI

You have a BK showing? That could be your problem...until that drops off I wouldn't complain about anything you get.

Re: GECRB Walmart CLI

I'm sorry I didn't intend for that to come out that way.

I've gotten my cards simply by paying all my debt off and slowly rebuilding and eventually got my scores back up where I can get the good cards. I didn't file BK but rather worked with the creditors to pay off everything I owed. That was about 7yrs ago. My scores have finally gotten back up and this year most all my negative items age off.

So maybe I am able to get a little more by having a good salary. Clean reports since 2007/2008 and not filing BK.

I didn't mean for my comment to upset you, I was just stating that certain lenders only go so far with a BK showing and to be happy that you've gotten where you're at and once that falls off you should be in the perfect place to get what you want.

Good Luck

Re: GECRB Walmart CLI

When I state ~7yrs of clean history; Ive really only started rebuilding since July 2012 when I joined myFICO and got a $300 HSBC card and a $500 Cap1 card. For a long time I didn't even think about my credit or try for loans/cards.  I've came a long way since then, but it takes patience and I knew it wasn't something that would just happen overnight. So I didn't fuss about it when I couldnt get big CL's or CLI's. I would just read the threads and learn what I could do to eventually reach my goals.

Good Luck

Re: GECRB Walmart CLI

It's all good... I'm plenty patient but still don't buy into the randomness that is GE.

I see threads every day from people with lower scores... Ch 7's etc... get more than a $100 CLI.  There is no way to predict whether India Credit Solutions will like you or not...

Thanks for all the replies!

I have no BK of any type whatsoever and I got my initial CL of $600 after Chase gave me $5000. Then at the 4 month mark i got the much discussed GE auto luv of $200. I even received a second Chase for another $5000 and requested Wally and Sam's CLI and was flatly denied. Cap 1 came through with a $1500 CLI and they get bashed on here every day. So I am with you. I will use them when they are convenient and take whatever auto may come my way, but other than a possible conversion of the Sam's to the new MC I could care less and I will NEVER call them again for a CLI

Is this the point where I am supposed to be excited?  I don't buy into the GE hype at all despite the fact I have 4 cards from them.
