I've had an Amex BlueSky for a couple years, but always carried a balance on it. I know they hate that, but it was simply easier to use my Wells Fargo Visa for daily purchases due to instant transfers from my bank account. My limit on Amex was initially $1,500 but went up to $2000 after a few months. It's been sitting there, CLI requests declined, ever since. The last six months or so I've reorganized my financial situation, dumped Wells Fargo bank accounts (kept the credit card with $5k CL pretty much maxed right now), switched to Ally, and have been using and paying off my Amex in full while slowly paying off my other cards. In the past year I've gotten a Cabela's Club Visa with $1k CL and I recently got a Discover It card with $1955 (weird number right?) CL to do a balance transfer from my Amex to start with a zero balance on that card.
Anyway, long story short, I just got an email letting me know that my Amex card's CL was increased to $3000 today, effective immediately! This is even after my credit scores have plummeted to 618-653 due to closing out a car loan, getting a new car loan for $23000 and my Discover card just now showing up on TU. It's not a huge increase, but it's good news that I guess I'm back in Amex's good graces.
I have a couple questions about the elusive 3X CLI that Amex sometimes gives out. How long do I have to wait before requesting a CLI? Does the timer start today even though I never requested this one? How likely are they to approve it with a credit score like that? (I've never missed a payment in 4 years of credit history and have always been in good standing with Amex aside from carrying a balance with them until a few months ago).
Thanks!
Congrats!!!!!!

Congrats on auto CLI!
When you intially went from $1500 to $2000, was that also an auto CLI or did you request that?

I honestly don't recall :\
Congrats! Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing.
I would request a CLI of $6k now just to be safe from the original $2k that you have never increased. the system will counter.

If you requested it, you wouldn't be eligible to request again until the 181st day after that approval. However, if you were denied and the reason didn't reference that, then you'd be eligible to ask again after 90 days from the denial.

The system would still counter if the OP asked for $9K, assuming it wasn't denied again of if the OP is even eligible to ask at this point.
