When you apply in store the $ CL on the receipt is for the store line and it won't indicate if you were also approved for the AMEX.  A quick call to the backdoor # will tell you though after some verification.

Initially I was approved for $1200 store and w/ a phone call found out I was approved for the AMEX version at $5K.

Thanks for the info however mine wasn't auto approved in store.  Had to call backdoor number when I got home because there was a hang up in their sx from a previous balance on an old card.  Never thought to ask if it was store or Amex.  But, again, if I had to guess, I would say store card.  Amex and I go way back and it did not end pretty.  Paid, but not pretty.  My DH has the Amex in the family and I am A okay with that.
