From what I have been reading from some of the other posters, the USAA secured cards don't unsecure. That's something you may want to ask about before accepting the card offer.

USAA secured cards never unsecure. Your deposit is locked into a 2 yr cd. At the end of the 2 yrs you either cancel card and get deposit back or renew cd for another 2 yrs. I'm not too fond of that!

Correct. The secured AMEX is not issued by AMEX either, so you won't be building history with AMEX.

Good idea DCole3g. Stick with Nfcu till you qualify for unsecured card with USAA. That's your best bet.
