no way! if you don't have to it's silly beyond believe to pay interest.

+1
and a new card has probably 14 months 0% promo APR ..so carry a balance would not give Discover any benefit
I went from 2k -> 5k at the 3 month mark and 5k ->7k at the 5 month mark. The first one I called in for and was a HP. The second was the luv button online and it gave me a 7-10 day answer. They called me the next day and verified some info and had no issue giving me the increase with a SP. My average spend is currently around $1,000 a month but was higher in early months(up to 4k). My TU is a little higher than yours though and shows 792 currently on the Discover site.
You can usually get CLI's every 3 months from them(I guess I got lucky in getting it after 2) but they don't offer everyone a SP CLI. Luck of the draw it seems.

The OP stated that he isn't receiving any CLI's. Mine was merely a suggestion that might precipitate a CLI. I did not suggest he pay hundreds in interest but merely a small amount. Can you say that this has no effect? Well you do not know what does or does not have an effect. Paying a couple bucks of interest for a multiple $1,000s of CLI might be a small price to pay to boost your score. My Discover limits are very high because I am profitable for them. I have paid some interest and I have reaped their rewards as well. It is a two way street. The card companies are in this to make money. Everything else he has tried has not worked. Play the game and see what happens. The word interest is not profane.
it could be that they think you have too many cards open or DTI

Im at 17 months now. Still stuck at $500 CL
even the free FICO they give me says my score is at 772. And no CLI since day 1. I think the system is stuck for me Unless i want a HP.
@IWOL wrote:I have had 5 statement cuts on my Discover since I opened it.
They gave me a low starting limit of $1500.
Between Nov 20(open date) and March 26 I have run $8,192 through it, which is an average of $2050 a month. My balance is currently at $200. I have earned $375 in cash back over that period.
I have made a lot of payments over that period so that I can continue to use card with the low limit. My most recent statement showed a TU score of 717 and they denied me for a SP increase last week. Im wondering if perhaps Im making too many payments and if I should instead make fewer larger payments. Any thoughts on that? Below is all the payments and dates I made since opening. With the next quarterly category being home improvemnt, I will SD this card if they dont give me an increase at 6 months.
Edit: Just realized my actual open date was Oct 8, first statement cut was Nov 20.

Well I decided to call Discover and try again. Soft pull increase was denied. Transferred me to analyst, they did a hard pull and very nice analyst reviewed my account. He said that he sees that I need a larger line as I've been making several payments every month. Put me on hold a few minutes, said they see I have handled the account very well and they are increasing my $1500 limit to $4000. The CSR and analyst are the nicest people I've ever talked with when it comes to banks. It really makes me want to give them as much of my business as I can. Some of the other banks could learn a thing or two from Discover.
WTG....Congrats!!!
