After reading a few recent posts of members successfully contacting the Cap1 EO for a CLI, I decided to give it a shot myself. I've just begun my second year in the rebuilding process and currently have two cards with Cap1: SC $500 and Builder Card $750. I got the SC in Feb 12 and the builder card in April. The builder card started at $500 but they bumped me up automatically back in October. I've completely cleaned up my credit in the past year and there are currently no negative marks on there and I'm sitting at a 745 score according to last month's MyFico. I've been gardening the last half year so I can build some payment history but my plan was to start applying this month (Feb 13). My issue was that my credit limits on my cards were too low so it's not likely any lenders will give me a high limit approval on any new application. So I tried calling the automated system about two weeks ago and went through a few voioce prompts and accessed a CLI prompt... of course it declined my request due to my account "
This Capital One account is not currently eligible for a credit line increase upon request. We're reviewing our policy for increasing credit limits. While we do this, we won't be able to offer you more credit". I then called in and requested to speak with an account specialist. After being transferred a few times I finally reached someone who was able to submit my request for the CLI. The rep I spoke to submitted the CLI request through some sort of system that gave him an automatic answer: same situation "account not eligible for an increase". With my spirits down I decided to browse the forums and I saw that several members have had success contacting the EO so I decided to write the CEO an email. In the email I explained how I needed the increase because I use the card frequently for travel and the $750 limit was not enough. I then provided my annual income and informed him I am more than capable of making the payments. I left my account number and contact information with little hope that anything would come out of it. The very next day a rep called me and informed me they've received my request and would look into it. She asked how much of an increase I was looking for and also asked me some financial questions. She then and asked if I were ok with the file to go through an analyst for review and also said the anaylist would make a Soft Pull inquiry on my credit. I told them I approved and she said she'd call me back tomorrow 02/05 to give me the results. I am traveling tomorrow so I decided to call back in today to check up on the status in case she wasn't able to get a hold of me. The anaylst then told me that I was APPROVED for an increase to $1500! It's not what I asked but hey, beggars can't be choosers. The best part of the bump is that it's was one day before my statement date so the increased limit should show up on my report this month when I'm making my applications. I'm ecstatic that my rebuilding is going so well and I'm excited for this month to see if I can get approved for some prime cards now!
I thank all the members on the forums for all the great advice and thank you Cap1 EO for pulling through once again!
Congrats!!! Love the details!!!

Congrats on the increase and detail as well! Another success story to put on the board! All it takes is patience and we shall succeed.

Thanks! Yeah I figured I should provide as much detail as possible in case any other members were in my scenario.
Unfortunately they did not offer to do anything to the secured card but I figured they wouldn't anyways. I'll probably cancel that card out if I'm approved for a few other cards.
Oh and I forgot to mention, I asked the rep if she were able to enroll me into any rewards programs and she offered me their frequent flyer rewards since I use this card for travel. The frequent flyer rewards matches every dollar spent on airfare with an air mile (With participating airlines). She wasn't that familiar with the program and couldn't provide me any other details but sent me a welcome packet so I'm looking forward to receiving that.
Are you able to PM me the e-mail address you used? My husband has been at a $500 limit for over 2 years and he has had no luck with auto CLI so maybe he can give an e-mail a try. Thanks and Congrats by the way!!!!
