Hi Forum!
i just wanted to share my recent experience applying for a Santander JetBlue MasterCard (it's only offered to PR residents) in case any other locals come to the forum looking for info...
I currently reside in Puerto Rico and to be honest I've never really done much business with local banks. However, I'm looking into buying an apartment next year and decided to take the leap and start building a relationship with a local bank. I currently bank with WF and have a Visa with them (used to be secured and it's stuck with a low ball CL since I don't use it; since it doesn't have any rewards and a high APR 17.45). Anyhow I decided to go with Santander. Opened checking and savings and even though I don't need it, I decided to open a credit card to create a payment history with them and close all my accounts with WF.
Let me tell you, I've been FR'ed by AMEX but this people threw the ball LOL. They requested W2s, tax returns and paycheck stubs to get a MC with a $5k limit. When I asked them if this was normal they told me that they always request these documents to all credit product applicants. Should I'd know I would have requested at least 10k! It took them over a week to get everything sorted out. I was 2 seconds away from calling it quits and forgetting about local banks. At least I got a 9.95% APR, the lowest they offer. Now let's meet the minimum $1k spend to score that free JetBlue ticket!
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
congrats
I always see advertising for this card when I'm flying Jet Blue on the TV screens but I did research and noticed it wasn't available for me. Congratulations on your approval, pretty awesome getting a free ticket
