The elusive Chase Freedom

Well, in the past two years I had applied for the Chase Freedom three times and was denied all three times (I had a few baddies back then).  I want to cancel my Chase Marriott Premier CC because I use to stay at the Marriott properties, but not so much any more and the AF is due in January '14.  I didn't want to lose the $5000 CL by simply cancelling it so I hope I can move that credit limit over.  I decided to apply for a Chase Freedom for the fourth time and finally got it.

I'm going to call to see if they are willing to transfer all $5000 from my Marriott to my Freedom.  I hear they sometimes only take a portion of it.  It will be my first card in the 5 digits, so we will see.

Re: The elusive Chase Freedom

Okay, so I just got off the phone from Chase and they say they can move my CL from my Marriott to my new Freedom, but I will have to wait until my Freedom account is ready or until I can verify the last 4 digits of the CC number.  The cool thing was, when I was explaining to the specialist what I wanted to do, he said that I was approved for a $1500 increase on my Marriott via Soft Pull.  I had to ask again to ensure that it was not a Hard Pull and he ensured me it was not.  I said go for it and now my limit is up to $6500 on my Marriott.  He said now I can transfer $6500 over instead of $5000.  I thought that was generous of him to tell me this.  I will now monitor EX to make sure I didn't get double pulled. lol... I hope I can move all/most of the funds over.

Re: The elusive Chase Freedom

Congrats on the Freedom...I have found with moving CL with Chase, usually if there has been activity within 3 months you can move all but $500 of the CL. They will move all of it if no activity has happened in the same amount of time....

Re: The elusive Chase Freedom

Update:  Oh yeah!!! I got all $6500 from my Marriott moved over to my Freedom and now I have my very first 5 digit CC.  Also, I asked the rep if it was a regular Visa or Signature and she said that it will be a Signature Visa.  I am so happy.  Smiley Happy  Marriott CC is now cancelled right before the AF hits too.

*Edit: Note to self and everyone else.. don't put a metal card into your shredder.  Shredders broken and the card is stuck half way. Smiley Sad
