My apologies to op if I'm derailing, but I thought maybe they'd like the info also.
I have a Walmart (600) and Amazon (700) card (both just a few days old, and my only ge backed cards), and want to make sure I have the best future cli plan. I understand its best to call, after hours, the credit solutions number after every 4th cycle is cut...other than that I am not well informed on how best to build the history they'd look for (other than the obvious...don't call when sitting on 99% overall util, etc).
A few questions, if you don't mind sharing some of the forum pros experience?
-should you always ask for the card max regardless of your current CL (and let them just counter with what they'll do?) If so, what is the max CL on these 2 ge cards?
-what do they ideally like to see on usage of their cards? Near max and pif every month? Prefer to see a balance with larger than min payments (paid down over 3 months etc)?
-should that particular card be pif at the time of request for cli?
-I've read that they prefer overall util to be under 30%...if higher than that, is there a threshold that you should not even bother asking with (ie more than 50% would be an automatic denial, etc).
That's about all I can think of, but any additional info would be very much appreciated as well.
