Hey all,
I've had a Wells Fargo rewards card for 13 months now and I've been wanting to get a CLI. It is my oldest card and has my lowest CL of my bank cards. I got an auto CLI 4 months ago from 1200 to 2500 and wanted a higher limit so I called in. I read in other threads that it can be SP or HP and how it works is that you give them a number and if they can't automatically grant it, you will be transferred to the credit department where they will HP you unless you tell them to not process it.
I called in and explained to the rep I did not want my report pulled and wanted a soft pull CLI. He seemed to understand what I was asking and confirmed what was said in the other thread about giving a number and that he would transfer you if a HP is needed. He also explained that if he was required to transfer, I would have to tell the analyst I didn't want my CR pulled or else they would do it anyways. I didn't want to risk this and so asked for $3,500.
Instantly approved and showed immediately on my account! Small increase but it's a good start. I will try again for a SP increase to 5k in 4 months!

Congrats on the Soft CLI!!!
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
I been with them since November 2012 and just considered requesting a CLI. Limit was $1200, requested $2500 (just testing the waters) and they came back with only $1700, a $500 limit increase. First, I would say it sucks, but, it was a SP so I took it and ran. Will try again in another 4-6 months.
