Wow!
I started my credit repair about a year ago with scores so low I could cry and multiple CA. Like an idiot, I thought that once my FICO was at 600+, I would qualify for a few store cards and easier cards. I apped for WalMart, Macys, Gap, and JC Pennys and was declined for all of them. I then learned about the shopping card trick and got a Buckle for $250 and a VS for $500. I also went to my USAA credit union and plunked down $600 for a secured Amex and deposited more money 6 months later to bring the balance to $1,000. I also got my mother to list me as an AU on her Amex. Add a Cap One for $300 and a Credit One for $400 and that's my list of credit.
My credit report has a medical CO of approx $3k from 4 years ago, and an old Sallie Mae 120 day late. I rehabed my student loan and the current student loan holder promptly removed the tradeline, but the Sallie Mae stayed.
I was happily growing in the garden and not looking to do anything until I grew my secured USAA Amex card to $2,000, and found out that mom just closed her Amex card so my AAoA tanked to under a year. I noticed that Experian still had not dropped moms Amex to closed, so I thought I'd try to sneak an app in and see what happens.
I've diligently kept my utilization under 5%, and I have had a relationship with Chase for over 4 years - so I thought I'd start with them. I appd thinking that if if was denied (which I was expecting) then at least I could get another round of free credit reports due to the denial. I was shocked when the screen popped up that I was instantly approved for $3,500!!!!!
Just wanted to share! Back in the garden!
