Here is the link to the Chase cards.  The Freedom Plus is the darker blue one and the caption above it says earn triple miles.  However, after obtaining the card you can switch at any time from miles to cash back.  Annual fee $30 waived for the first year if my memory serves me correctly.

I have this card and can not stress to you how much I LOVE it.  Your get 3% back on your top 6 spending categorie. There are 15 eligible spending categories - which really entails everything, dining, vehicle expenses, groceries, pet supplies/vet expenses...you name it. The awesome part is that you get that 3% back on YOUR top 6 categories from the available 15. So whichever categories you spend the most in is where your 3% back is applied. AND...it is based on your monthly spending. So each month they tally up your spending and figure out which categories are your top 6 for that month.

I got this card in June. My statement cut last night...today I was able to submit for another cash rewards check . You are able to redeem at $50 increments, but if you hold out until you reach $200 you can a bonus $50! So, it's really even more than 3% back when you think about it. This is the 2nd $250 check I'll be getting in just about 8 months. Plus, I still have $90 left in my rewards account that I will keep in there for another few months until I save up enough to redeem for the $200 level - which includes...yep, another free $50.

Love, love, love this card!

Re: 2%+ Cash Back on Everything Cards

UpUpUp sounds great, you must have the Chase Freedom Plus

only downside is it does not have promo APR rate

regular Chase Freedom has promo APR but the 3% cash back only lasts for 6 monthsSmiley Sad

Hi Urgent

I too have the Chase freedom plus card and love it tremendously.

This is not a card for a low apr. It is for a PIF, get money back on all your everyday purchases.

If you use it for this particular reason, you will reap the rewards very nicely.

Thank you, great information How is the customer service for this card ?

Their customer service is average.  I had to be transferred to an account specialist for my AF to be credited.Their website is easy to use.  One bad thing to note, they do not report to the CRA on set statement dates.  I paid in full 2 days before the statement date and they still reported the whole balance to all the CRA Smiley Mad

Orchard is interesting but why so stingy with the credit lines? is it just because they're a really small bank?

Orchard bank is part of HSBC.  This card is a starter card for people with not so perfect credit so they keep the CL low.

Most HSBC bank cards, including Orchard, report your balance on the last business day of the month, as of that day. So you can still time your PIF'ing, you just have to do it on a different time plan.

HSBC does like to do its own thing, that's for sure.

I noticed some Chase  apps ask for your work phone #...do they actually call it?  My employer would be annoyed by this.

I like my freedom plus card that gives 3% on top 6 categories.

I don't think I will really ever find myself with over 6 categories, so I should always get 3%!

It's not clear from your post, but the Freedom Plus card only gives you 3% back for the top 6 categories OF 15 categories they define - it doesn't cover all purchases (e.g. restaurants, hotels, bookstores, WalMart, etc will never get 3%).

Also, from what I've seen, the old regular Freedom card (3% on top 3 categories) has not been offered since October - it's now the 3% on certain pre-defined categories for each quarter.  The Freedom card I got in October still has the 3%-top-3 rewards, fortunately (for now, at least!).
