Re: 2014 is here, what are your credit plans?

App'd and approved for Freedom just before the bonus went from $200 to $100 (WHEW!).

Plan for 2014 though... really just garden. I'm happy with my current crop of cards and their CLs are usable (mostly). But if I do get the trigger finger on doing things... I'll:

  • In June I'm going to try going for another 3x CLI on my BCE. I could ask for $9600 but that seems kind of high, I really want to get $5k CL or more though, that's a good barrier I want to break into (already went past both 2k and 3k).
  • At my 1 yr anniversary (or 1 mo past that) I'm going to try for a CLI on my Discover. Several times a week I poke their CLI button only to see it not working, if that works before the anniversary I'll try for it then.
  • Still want the 3 cards in my sig but not going to try apping for them until I know I can get $5k CLs (two can be Siggys, other is WMC). I really need to hold off on these cards for another few years. If I get approved for a QS, could transfer my Journey card's CL and close it, it is my oldest CC though.
  • I might try for a CLI on the Freedom to get that bumped up to $5k & upgraded to Signature.
  • Keep using my Forward until they force the reduced rewards on me (if they do). If and when they do, will open a TYP since it at least gets 2x and has an opening bonus, would transfer the Forward's CL to that and close it. Might open a Dividend Plat Select for the bonus too / transfer CL+close after 6mo/yr. That is of course, I can do this, if I can't get the bonus if I'm already a customer than scratch that idea Smiley Tongue
  • But yeah once I have all my cards I want... really just comes down to increasing their limits and pruning out any old / uneeded stuff. And working on increasing my score of course Smiley Happy Which would include stop getting HPs and doing things that lower my AAoA!

Re: 2014 is here, what are your credit plans?

Hi, my plans are to continue to garden, pay down my utl to 0, wait for my approved mortgage modification to be corrected on my CR (Barclays denied me because of it), get the last 2 baddies removed (waiting on PFDs), and maybe try Barclays again later in the year.

I am looking forward to increasing my scores and graduating my secured NFCU card.

Great thread!!!

Your right, free money is always good, that's why all my CC's offer cash rewards. But I found myself juggling CC's just to gain more rewards, which over time is not REALLY worth it. Because 1-5% will not break or make me financially!

Re: 2014 is here, what are your credit plans?

With my bankruptcy discharge hitting the two year mark at the end of February, my credit card goals are to get a Signature Visa, increase my credit lines, and work on lowering my APR's. Another goal is get a decent rate for a c ar loan.

My main goal for 2014 is to make sure I never get into the situation where I had to declare bankruptcy.

Re: 2014 is here, what are your credit plans?

I finished my rebuild around the early part of last year, so I have all of the cards that were on my wish list. That was a huge accomplishment for me! Now my goals are to:

  • Pay off the one card that I carried a balance on for major dental work -- at 0% APR. I'm on track to have that completed by next month.
  • Continue to grow the cards that I already have with SP CLIs.
  • Seek an APR reduction on my BoA card.

I'm very pleased with my current crop of cards and I want to continue nurturing them.
