2015 Surprises

As we get ready to wind down 2015, I was reflecting back on my 2015 surprises.

1. Chase - I got approved for 7 new Chase cards worth $61,600 after repeatedly being denied an increase on my $10,000 CSP.

2. TD Aeroplan - Originally denied and asked for recon.  Amazingly, I was approved for 22k.  Don't know how but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth.

3. Synchrony - I managed to hit that 100k across 6 cards.

4. BBVA - Originally denied three times on three different applications.  Approved after complaint for 20k at 11.24%.

5. FNBO - Had no idea (until recently) how stringent this bank was.  Approved for three cards this year for a total of 21k.

6. Capital One - Burned them many many many (seems like ages ago) years ago under HSBC.  Fought to no avail to get CO's removed from CRA's.  Approved for four cards at $50,200.

7. Huntington Bank - Approved for Voice card last year for a dismal $500.  Kept the card for one year and closed it because they said they didn't have a cli process in place.  Applied this month and got 12k.

What were your 2015 surprises, if you care to share, and why?

I've had several surprises, but the most significant were getting a Discover card and getting two accounts with Amex after burning them both in BK7 15 years ago.  I always assumed both would be forever out of reach!  Smiley Happy

That's even better.  Is that the Amex version you have?  Thanks for your support.  I have learned just as much from you all as well, so thank you.

Re: 2015 Surprises

For me 2015 had a few surprises...

How truly horrific my credit was.

Getting approved for a car loan before doing ANY work on my credit. (Albeit at a horrific interest rate to match horrific credit)

Actually getting unsecured credit, even with low limits. They were good to me so I'm good to them.

And it isn't over yet. I'm anxious to see what the last bit of 2015 hold in store.
