I noticed today that I received a 50k MR points offer for the Amex prg. My question is - should I apply? I was just approved for an Amex BCP last week, so I don't want to be FR'd because I applied for a second card. Also - is the $175 AF worth it? While I won't be traveling a ton this year - my family and May travel quite a bit in years to come. Since I have the BCP, I won't be using the prg for gas/groceries - but more as an everyday card.
Let me know your thoughts!
It's worth it because the AF is waived the first year. That will give you some feel as to how much you will use it. Once the AF kicks in, you can decide if you want to keep it. (Generally need to put at least $30K on the card to get the 15K bonus to justify the AF)
oh.. how did you get the 50K offer? Pre approved?
Does any one know, if Amex matches the offer like chase? I got for 25K and want 50K.. (PRG)

It never hurts to ask, but Amex generally stopped matching offers that were targeted to others a while back.
Got a boring reprensentative on line. They are telling some stories about 2X on Gas and all that.
No luck on matching the offer. Any other route for this? EO, Twitter, Facebook etc.

In general, no. Amex used to match offers like this, but a couple of years ago after a ton of people matched to targeted 100K offers they changed policy. You can keep trying, maybe you get lucky, but most likely the answer will be no.
Never mind. Will stop on this. Just read some precious previous threads, and no one had luck. Thanks
