Should I app for a card.
my debt to income is way lower now...?

eh - I don't know if having p/o student loans is going to make that big of a difference. I have absolute tons of student loans - all with positive history - and it hasn't affected any CC approvals in a negative way.

If you're looking for travel cards, I'd recommend AmEx SPG with the 30k bonus going on for now. If you fly United at all, I hear if you app for Chase United MileagePlus Explorer in branch, you get 50k bonus miles.

being transfered to another servicer? if so, those will report with the new servicer soon and they will close the old student loan accounts.
i wouldnt bank on it based on solely your student loans.
