In order for him to be eligible he would have had to put the minimum 20 years and retire from service.   I think thats how it goes.  Personally I think veterans of any kind should be eligible but that's not how I read it.

NASA FCU did a hard pull on Equifax.  And that was just for opening an account.   Kind of harsh, but oh well.

Maybe they'll let you app for a card with the same HP. 

 

Worth a try at least. 

 

 

Edit: Was just reading their list, and Lake Michigan CU has a checking account that pays 3% APY on a balance of up to $15,000....thats like.. 3,5x what my MMA with Ally pays Smiley Tongue

thats pretty goof. 3.5 apy. our mma only pays 1.0 percent for 10k new money. 

 

i never knew id be eligible for pen fed. maybe ill try in the future. 

 

and most banks and credit unions pull a report to make sure you are who you say you are. 

 

my current bank pulled eq.

This might help.

 

Retirees (20+ years of service) are eligible to receive big time benefits like the best retirement program in the world (military pension).  They earned it.  Veteran can describe just about anyone who served in the armed forces.  There is no statement of eligiblity for veterans listed.  Only retirees or annuitants, the latter covering those that got a pension before 20 years (disabled, early outs).

 

NFCU, by law, must restrict membership.  How they choose to do so is up to their members.

 

I think we will get too off topic if we address this deeper.
