Re: +$700 cli at Macy's

fevmlo and jmbfl-

i usually always get cli with macys on first try. so i called got someone overseas he said he was transferring me to credit dept..got someone, asked me what i'd like to request i just said the most they could give me..she said i had just recently gotten a cli and i advised it was in sept, so she said let me check and put me on hold forever..now she said she had to check with her supv, and that at this time they were leaving my cl at it's current $1100 limit, i was shocked, i was exepcting something, but nothing..i'm tempted to call and try someone else. i mean i just charged $300 on my card 2 weeks ago and i paid it off already so actually my card has a $2.00 credit??!!!!!

Re: +$700 cli at Macy's

I call every three months and no hard inquiry, it seems to be an internal thing they're working from.  Yipee!

On my Macy's I intially had a $100 limit (was only 18 yo first card yaddayadda) I asked for an increase and they bumped it up to $2000. Talk about a jump!

FICO really SHOULD address these inquiries and how they're dinging us.  Bottled Water, Satellite, Cell Phone, etc shouldn't be held against us at all.

That would be nice. It won't happen, but it would be nice. Either that or we should get a positive TL for paying our bills.

Re: +$700 cli at Macy's

My relationship with Macys is similar to WhirledPeasPlease... anyway, have been at $400 for a while but this year was the first year I have spent more than $1000 (going for the Platinum) my real goal was to get to Platinum level and see if they would say "gee it would be easier for her to spend at Platinum level with a higher limit" but I may just be hoping too much.

Also, GEMB just decreased both my Gap and Chevron... that will probably really affect my chances of getting a CLI from Macy's right?  The decreases weren't for a late on any of my cards but I have been making A LOT of use of my cards and then paying off balances in two checks (half every paycheck or something)

Congrats on the CLI, that's pretty sweet.  I love Macy's as you all seem to!  Smiley Happy

Nope those decreases will not affect your cli w/Macy's at all.  They're based on an internal system and don't pull another inquiry (hard).

Get on the horn at three months & get that cli.  They seem to be very generous around major holidays, i.e. Christmas, Valentines Day, etc.

My upgrade to the plat AND the CLI happened right around the same time.  I'm sure they saw the heavy usage around Christmas and that helped for the CLI.  (I think my highest balance ever reported is around 700.)

I can't wait to go back to the Macy's Red Card this January -- lol!

Re: +$700 cli at Macy's

Yeah, Macy's is the best—they're very generous. Let's see, I opened my account in 11/2008 w/ a whopping $200 limit! *smh* In 01/2009 I requested an increase and was bumped to a $500 CL. Finally in 04/2009 I asked for $500 increase. From $200 to a $1000 CL in less than one year! Amazing, every card should take after Macy's I tell you!
Macy's $25,000 | Bloomingdales AMEX $25,000 | Care Credit $15,000 | Amazon Prime $8,300 | Target Red MasterCard $4,000 | Bergdorf Goodman $3,500 | Williams Sonoma $3,070 | Forever 21 $2,800 | Ann Taylor/ Loft $2,650 | J.Crew $2,550 | Children's Place $2,250 | VERVE $1,400 | First Savings $1,100 | Citi Rewards+ $700 | Gap $600 | Chase Freedom Unlimited $600

Re: +$700 cli at Macy's

I have had macys for around ten months. started at 600 called in feb for cli. got a 200 increase to 800. Called a few days ago to check cl to make sure it hadnt been decreased like so many have and had a cl of 2500 without me asking for it.  I think they are great.
