Elcid- But I have noticed other kids my age that 10-12k get approved for cards like the Delta Gold, Green, and even sometimes the Hilton card, and a few that get approved for Gold as well. That's why I considered going for it.
Scientifics- Thank you..lol. You think I should wait until after April? I was thinking that If I do not get approved for Chase or AMEX, I would try again at the end of next semester like end of may, and see what happens. Actually when I viewed my report, I did not see an inquiry from BOFA, I did see AT&T, Citi, and Discover, so a total of 3 inquries so far.
Web- One of the last reasons (other then the first 2-3 reasons) that I wanted to go for the Gold is because 1.) Because of the backdating 2.) Because I have heard on other boards and from others that I have talked to that there revolvers are harder to get then the Charge cards so hence I though charge should be easier to get. + I can justify the annual fee and that is the main reason why I would not go for the PRG either (annual fee would not be worth it.), should I go for the Green instead? or just forget AMEX for a while? I was going to go for the Zync in December if they still had it, but they discontinued it...oh well. And yeah I try to strategically app, hopefully 3 inquiries wont scare them away...lol.
Bahbahd- Actually I am 19, and I currently attend a community college. My dream is to work for the State Police or Highway Patrol one day when they start hiring again. I just go to school because I like to learn (I really dont want to school for any reason) and I can afford to. The 12k is from a second job I work at (more like a hobby) where I fix stuff (computers, and I can build them as well..) And I work as a server/ waiter (whatever term you prefer.) But I have seen others get an AMEX as well. One of my friends has about 10k in income (with roughly the same history as mine.) and he already has a Discover More, Chase Freedom, AMEX PRG, and a Penfed Cash Rewards card. But he is 21 however. I mean I think it would be worth a shot to apply.
JD- I thought both the Gold and the Green for the first year do not have any annual fee. And that was exactly my point, you never know until you app. The main reason why I really started this thread was because I wanted to help my chances of getting approved by them, what I should and shouldn't do. Now if I get denied for both, I'll just try to apply again at the end of next semester and see what happens, and then again there is always recon.
bump
bumping again..lol.
Snack- I just want to know what my chances are, plain and simple. If it works out and I get approved then great, if not I can wait. There are people on here that have much more expirence with credit cards and credit in general, so that's what I was looking for. I don't exactly want to rebut everything (that's not my goal in coming here.) And what should I plan for, if anything I'd just need a plan to stick to, so that way when it comes time to apply for cards, I'd have a reasonable chance of getting them. That's all.
I guess so haha, I just wanted to gauge some responses here and see if it was a good idea or not, but yeah, I guess I'll see where I stand. If it doesn't work out then I'll try in a few months. At least it would be worth a shot.
you miss 100% of the shots you dont take.
those are your chances.

Agree with you Cash, I'll see what happens, and hopefully I will be one of the fortunate ones that will be approved and then no more cards for a little while.
