AA Redemptions: is this good?

So I'm trying to make sure I get good value for my redemptions for my various credit card points and wanted to run this past the experts. The flights I'm looking at are 2 roundtrip flights that are $860 each, or $1720. With miles they're 25k each plus $5. So if I divide the $1720 less the $10 fee between the 50k points it'd cost, I'm looking at 3.4c per AA mile. That seems to be a pretty good value to me from what I've read but I'm wondering if I'm missing anything? It's for an economy class flight.

Its a good time to redeem especially if AA decides to move from miles to Points system next year

3.4 cents per mile is a pretty good value in my opinion.

Yes now is a good time to redeem AA miles!! They are likely to be further devalued at some point (they say after the merger progresses), but its reallu anybodys guess. Thats a good redemption rate as well.

Re: AA Redemptions: is this good?

Good to hear. I have quite a lot of AA miles (250k) and also need to book 3 international roundtrips for next year as soon as the calendar allows so glad to be using them up if things do indeed change.

Re: AA Redemptions: is this good?

That's really good IMO for an economy flight. My recent economy redemptions:

May 2013: 2.0 cpp using AA miles

May 2014: 1.8 cpp using UA miles
