You might want to call them first and ask why you weren't given the member since date an additional card member is entitled to. It's part of the privilege of the primary account holders membership as well as an additional card members under a primary, even if the card doesn't say it, it should say mimic the primary's online info, that's a fact. As well in how it reports. If they won't do it for you when you call, have the primary account holder call and explain they added you as a member of AMEX for a reason, or they could have added you to any OTHER card without an AF.
RyVision (also annielorie, as this applies to you),
I did as you suggested, and it was still a no-go. I ended up speaking to someone in the Credit Bureau dept at AMEX, but to no avail. After our conversation, the analyst put me on hold for a while, then came back and said she had confirmed with a supervisor that they had changed their policy - she made it very clear to me that AMEX was no longer giving the "card member since" date to additional card members; additional card member's card/credit report will reflect the date they were added.
I did ask her about my old AMEX, and she confirmed that if I opened my own card it would reflect the 2006 date from when I was previously an AMEX card member. At least they've not changed this!
I'm leaving it alone for now, and will just have myself removed as an AU after I get my cards paid off the end of this year. That way it won't have an effect on my utilization % (right now it's helping tremendously, as the benefit from the added utilization outweighs the hit to my AAoA). I plan to apply for my own AMEX in Jan 2013 after a year of no inquiries, and my score should be close to the mid-700s by that point; will hopefully be approved then and backdated to 2006.
