Well I got 1 paid collection. Cable bill. 4 yeRs old. I don't see that as obstacle. But if I had more than 1. I would not even think about it.

I had a paid collection that 6 years + and i thought i was in the clear to start apping for new cards. I got some , but barely got them, it was not an smart idea. You will get really bad rates if you get an revolver. Rates that you may be stuck with for the rest of the life of the card. Don't be like me :-(
But I think op is going for charge card. So apr no big deal.

yeah borderline with multiple collections i don't know. You never know though. I like to play it safe.
Also even you can recon for apr reduction when your score and report is better. I hear that all the time.

I will test that theory when my 0% interest ends in January. My score and report are an lot better than they were before when I append for bcp
It really depends on how many get cleared up from disputes. I have one collection for $47, $77, $220 and a few other small ones that I'm paying. Just waiting to see if the rest of them fall off.
The $220 one the orignal creditor has agreed to recall it. Going to try to call the orignal creditor on the $77 and $47 to see if I can get them to recall it if I pay it rather then paying the collection agency and risk them not taking it off. I sent them a PFD. The charge off isn't showing up on Experian. Just TU/Equifax. It's all going to depend on the outcome of my disputes.
Plus, I wouldn't app for AMEX until my score is up to 660-680. I would probably go for another card until then like Discover IT/Barclay/CapOneQS unless you guys have a better suggestion. I know many have said you could get a card with a 620.
i see a lot of people gert approved for amex but not me i should have applied for the green card
