Re: AMEX Approval Scores

Just asking, because I'm wondering if I should app for Zync or go straight past that and into another card come Sept/Oct.

My overall util should be close to 14% and my scores will probably float around mid 700's if not higher. I've just seen stories of people in 700's getting denied.

Any stories of people getting approved by an AMEX card without having had a Zync first?

Over the past 3 weeks got Amex Green, Gold and BCE. EQ FICO 720 due to inquiries for apping spree. Amex use their own internal scoring, Ive had Blue sky since2008 so ive established a good history . Once you get your foot in the door and play by the rules Amex really does you well.

The Blue Sky is the one I am secretly pining for, because of no AF.

My EQ Score was 700 when I got it in 2008. Have to admit it served me faithfully but I am retiring for BCE

Re: AMEX Approval Scores

Thanks. I'm going to wait til the Freedom INQ rolls off in July and my Disc More is about 6 months old and then I'll try my luck.

I have been rebuilding for 2 years now and really want an AMEX.  After checking periodically for the past year, I finally have pre-selected offers on their website for ZYNC, Green, and Blue.  I know it would be smart getting in the door with ZYNC or Green, but I would like a revolver.  I had a chargeoff from 2006 that I tried getting taken off until about December 2011, which is when I broke down and promptly paid.  This chargeoff is not from a CC or loan, it was a rapid refund ($443) from H&R Block that wasn't paid back from the government and I didn't know until I began monitoring my scores in 2010.  So that, and a 2 30day lates, both of which over 6 years old are on my report.  EX fako is between 685-710.  I am asking everyone who has been  approved for an AMEX with similar, or worse scores, especially with a baddie or two, to post their app process and say what their score was AT THE TIME, and describe the baddies they had at that time as well.  I look forward to some feedback.

I was in the same boat, with the same pre-selects, zync, green, blue, if i were you I would apply for the Blue first its the hardest to get. If you apply for zync the other offers may go away. I got the Blue, and 2 months later I still had a pre-select for zync and app'd and got it, the green pre-select disapeared.

So Apply for the best card you want that you are pre-selected for first.. because if you get it, you may be stuck waiting for 6 months to be safe to apply for the second card.  I really should of applied for BCE, that I wasn't pre-selected for because that is what I really wanted, and you can only have one card from the blue family at the same time, I would have to pay off my blue, cancel  and then re-app for the BCE. So I am waiting currently enjoying the 10k MRE points, spent $500 in 3 months, and 0% interest for 12 months. Perhaps next January my 13month point I will try for BCP either cancel and new app or PC. The cancel and re-app would give me a 2 year card, blue is  12/11, new card would be dated 1/11, and the blue would still get included in my AAoA for 10 years.

Cards: Chase Southwest 20k & CSR 17k & CSP 10k & FNBO 30k Oregon Duck 5k, & AMEX BCP 32.5k & Amex Magnet 15k&amg; Hilton Surpass 7.5k & Delta Gold 12k & Zync NPSL, Fidelity AMEX 17k Commerce5.9k & Cash Forward 7.5k & Sams Club MC 20k, Paypal Extras MC 10k, Paypal Credit 7.25k CapOne Venture 15k, QS 2.5k, QS 750, Amazon 10k, Walmart 10k, Citi Simplicity 18k, Discover IT 23k and a nice stack of store cards.

I'm sure that you know this, but AMEX is very quirky when it comes to approvals;  some people with 700+ scores have been rejected, others with 600ish scores approved.

I was counter~offerer approved last fall for ZYNC with $200 limit, with a sub 650 EX FICO.   They never told me what it was, but I know it was low.

I had probably around 60% overall utilization;   3 paid CO accounts from 4 years ago, and lots of 7 year old late payments.

I'm so intrigued as to why I didn't this offer from them.............Smiley Indifferent

Re: AMEX Approval Scores

Got zync. I think they pulled EQ which I have 665 and about 54% or so util (which was false but I didn't want to wait for a statement to cut). 1 30 day late which I don't even know if it's showing up on EQ otherwise no baddies. 22 yrs old; longest acct is 4.4 yrs. $49,000 income. NPSL. Only got card for backdating purposes in the future.

The card is gorgeous. Infact I went to try it out this morning at starbucks and I got the reaction from the barista chick that I expected "wow! so shiny!"

Re: AMEX Approval Scores

I was denied by Amex with a credit score by Fico 652. They came back with a Zync $500.00 c/l if I had proof I had a checking account where they can take the money out every month. After the 6-12 month period the will make it unlimited spending. I had to baddies that were 6 years old. You have to get your foot in the door. Lets get that 800 credit score. Smiley Happy
