Just for giggles, I hit the luv button for my AMEX.  It's at $15K now, and I apped for a $10K increase to $25K to match one of my other cards.  This is the only account with them.  Here are the reasons.

The number of credit card accounts with balances.

1 account out of 9 had a balance.  Discover posted $28.

The revolving balance(s) on your American Express accounts is to high.

The balance was $0, always PIF and hadn't even used it in a couple months.  Never hit 10%  util on the card.

Your FICO score

listed at 814

I don't need a CLI, just thought the reasons were a bit skewed.  If they said, we just don't want to give you more, I'd be OK with that.

I'll wager this is your reason.

Isn't $25K CL on a single card one of the triggers for a 4506T request?

No, this is not accurate. I have well over 25k in credit from Amex and have never received a tax return request.  Which is probably good because I would not give it to them...

The $25k CL does seem to be one of the triggers for them to ask for a 4506T. That is not the same thing as saying it leads to a guaranteed call for the 4506T, but being aware of the $25k is worthwhile.

Re: AMEX BCE CLI denied, reasons don't make sense.

I went through the 4506T routine about 2 months ago to take my BCP $25K > $50K.

I had to submit the 4506T 3 times. The reponse back on the first two forms was it

didn't work. No explanation of what the issue was, just they needed the exact same

form again if I wanted to continue. It was like they were trying to see if I would just go

away. Third time was the trick, but I was starting to get a bit ticked off at their totally

opaque communication. I didn't need the CLI. and if they had said something about

not wanting to grant it at this time it would have been fine. But instead it was like

they went politely mute.

Something is going on internally with Amex, they aren't the same company to deal

with they have been for the last 20 years.

+ 850 FICO8 since 2015, Thanks MyFICO - 5+ years since last HP
