I just ordered a Chip & Sig enabled card as I will be doing international travel pretty soon. My only concern was when AMEX say, you cannot opt out of this option and go back to magnetic strip.
Question: the chip & sig cards also have a magnetic strip behind...correct? I can use the card anywhere in US just regular swipe. Then why AMEX gives this warning?
They give this warning, B/C once you receive a card with a EMV chip, one is not allowed to request a card in the future w/o it.......
Your BCE will work the same way as before in the US (magnetic stripe remains)....but other question: Why would you want to use BCE outside the US and pay FTF ?

You are right. BCE is not my first preference to use outside US. I changed it just in case i need to use it. Thanks for the information.
They also don't include the ExpressPay RFID chip by default anymore. I had my original card until the number was stolen. My replacement card was thinner and did not have either EMV or RFID. Thankfully I was able to request a new card with RFID (my local grocery store still uses it).
